Idea for new grading service (or change an existing one) that uses actual LETTER grades (A, B, C, D,

Now, when most people think of grades outside of collecting hobbies (cards, coins, etc), they think of school grades, such as grade level and grades for your schoolwork. Thus, how come no one has ever stepped forward with an actual letter grading service instead of all those boring 1-10 scale copycats you see everywhere? Here's how the grades would break down with one very interesting twist regarding the "F" grade:

INVESTMENT GRADES
===============
PRISTINE A+ ("PSA 11" or Beckett 10)
GEM MT A (PSA 10)
MINT A- (PSA 9)

MODERN GRADES
============
NRMT-MT B+ (PSA 8)
NRMT B (PSA 7)
EXMT B- (PSA 6)

VINTAGE GRADES
============
EX C+ (PSA 5)
VGEX C (PSA 4)
VG C- (PSA 3)

FILLER GRADES
===========
GOOD D+ (PSA 2)
FAIR D (PSA 1)
POOR D- ("PSA 0")

So what about an "F" grade you might ask? This is what would make this grading service stand out from the others. Now, if PSA gets a "doctored" card (trimmed, recolored, etc) they just send it back unslabbed. But with this grading service, it'll still be slabbed (provided the card itself is authentic) with an F grade with a clear description of why it's an F (for example, if it's trimmed, it'll say where). Thus, to get a "passing" grade, the card must not only be authentic, but undoctored as well.

    And how do you propose I do that? Shoot, where do the "minor league" grading places get their slabs anyway (I'm sure the "big three" can make their own)?

    I'm affraid you're a bit late - one of the best threads we ever had at this forum was started by Collector222 and trying to introduce NGS grading company to a bunch of country bumkins - aka the CU forum!

    If anyone here has not read this thread? When ya have the time - read thru it - it's priceless.

    This kid tried to "pull the wool" over our eyes - he had a biz address which turned out to be a college dorm!!!!!

    And - it did give me the idea to start my own grading company - Pogostick Grading Company which uses his "patented" 4 point grading scale - which is a conversion of the ABCD system.

    If nothing else - we "DO" get entertained here!
