THIS makes Frazier's heart skip a beat and feet start tapping...

1969

I wish the scan was better. The 69 Namath has always been a favorite of mine. I've fantasized about a worthy example for my collection...I guess it'll cost 18k to have one. What a card!

    What? Only 18K?

Piece-a-cake - all I have to do is sell a kidney and an arm and I'm there!

    Nice card tho.

I have one of these ready to go to PSA. It is 50-50 all the way around and perfect corners. The only issue is a blue hair like squiggle line that is 1/8 to 1/4 inch long on the right side by Joes shoulder. Has 9 written all over it but may I could get a ten and offer it of 17,999 and undercut this guy

So, why would leeland's get more for it? Do certain collectors only buy from there?

Is it just me, or does the top right corner look touched?

there have been threads recently trying to understand why some people pay extra-premiums to own cards that would
normally sell for much less elsewhere.

I can't find thread, but 1 cu member said something like, "it wouldn't be surprising if some of the winners of the auctions had NEVER bought a single card from e-bay, but only from these overpriced auction houses..."

i can't explain it either, other than some people have ability to pay premiums and auction houses validate the extra $$$$ in their minds?

  • Why spend 18k? All you have to do is find an 8, or an oversized one, and it can be 'made' for $100, and you have the same thing.

I think alot of these guys also have pros buying for them and it might be a little old boy network going on. If the guy gives you a green light to buy a card no matter what the cost then why not buy from a big time dealer. I think to some also the facelessness of Ebay scares people off from buying big ticket items.

With an 18K BIN or best offer?

The seller may be on a 'fishing' expedition to see what he might hook? Or not?

  • How about buying a gem mint one, not entombed in plastic lol.
you wont have to sell your car, your blood or your first born image

p.s. it is an amazing card.

<< <i>A PSA Gem Mint 10 card is a virtually perfect card. Attributes include four perfectly sharp corners, sharp focus and full original gloss. A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn't impair the overall appeal of the card. The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse. >>

    On the 10 card.

Unless I have the card in my hand and a loupe, it's a 10 IMO.

A 10 doesn't meaning perfect - "virtually" - to me is code for NEAR perfect.

If ya looking for a perfect card? Especially from that period? There might be maybe - 10 perfect cards on the planet?

Usually, you need a loupe to see physical imperfections on a 10. I can see this one, even with a semi-blurry scan.

However, the touched corner could have happened AFTER the card was slabbed. I've seen some slabbed cards with a tiny chip of the card's surface detached and stuck to the inside part of the holder, if not freely sliding around within.
