78/79 opc hockey rip picture

Hi Guys,
Steve just sent all our product out today and was kind enough to send some pictures. Please see attached photos. If anyone knows how to make them show up without clicking on each file please do so. This also will be our thread for showing and talking about our rip. This is going to be great.

I suggested to Steve that he should consider putting together a rip once a month or so for the forums here. He could put a couple of options together and interested parties could vote! (on the B/S/T of course)....

Anyone else think that's a good idea?

Great looking box in the top left. Has to be the one with the Bossey PSA 10.

Goose - Be careful, hockey cards can be additive. Two years ago I bought was in a Meijers and had
about $15. I purchased a box of 97/98 Beehive. Feel in love with the look and now have piles of hockey cards
in my study to sort.

I am so pumped for this. I didnt ask for the box so I am not sure who is getting it but from the looks of it one lucky person is. (Im guessing its me but not sure). If all involved would like to raffle for it I am fine with that. It was very nice of Steve to forward these picks. If someone gets the bossy they HAVE 2 post a pic somehow. Anyway I look forward to seeing everyones rip. Knuckles if your out there I am really sorry we couldnt connect on this rip but next time for sure.

Took my little pink slip down to the PO and they gave me one of those sweet looking boxes from BBCEX. What a country!

Mark - Paypal sent with an extra sawbie to cover your fees.

I opened the box to find 8 beautiful packs well protected.
I'm no unopened expert but these packs look sweet.
Big fat roller marks lined up perfectly across the back.
Nice tight corner wraps from the edge or back.
No dark "iron" stains or anything similar.
Just quality, tight, right from the box unsearched packs!

I'm gonna go rip, scan, repeat. I'll post the results later tonight.

I would have loved these packs if Topps was on top of their quality control. Nice corners, nice opc rough cuts, very few paper bubbles and good player selection. Too bad the centering was horrific.

The rest of the boxes from this case should be burned if they have similar centering!

I hope others have better luck.

Almost forgot the wrappers:

Like I said in my first post I felt these packs were legit. Nothing anyone can do about centering.

I post this as information only. Nothing more, nothing less.



As I held each pack on the desk and carefully broke the seal, I noticed tears in the wrapper at the top and bottom. Not sure they are showing up in the scan.

Some wrappers were torn on just the bottom and some top and bottom. All 8 wrappers had at least one tear which wasn't visible when pack was sealed.

Again, just posting this to be as informative as possible. Nothing more. Anyone else notice this?

I was checking the wrappers last night and noticed the small tears myself. From the 4 packs I received, 2 were slightly mis-wrapped, but nothing major, just not the type of packs I'd slab. I know when I opened one of the packs, I heard a small tear, so I assumed I tore that pack. My tears are in the same area as the ones you scanned.

Let me ask you about where the better centered cards were in the packs... were your better centered cards in the middle of the packs? I noticed (with 1 exception) that 3 cards in the middle of the pack were often the best centered cards. Was this the case with your packs also?

Got your paypal thanks. Sounds like you got a few gradeable ones. Hope they are 9's atleast. Just so you know card #1 Bossy there are no 9's or 10's so that could make you a few dollars. Card 143 there is only one 9 graded. 196 has zero 9's or 10's graded as well and 343 only has one 9. Let us know how they grade out.

I think the better centered cards were toward the back of the pack.

Closest to the seal. I didn't pay too much attention as not that many cards were centered at all.

But I believe a few of the better ones I scanned had wax on the face from being the last card. I didn't state which cards had wax because it comes right off with a t-shirt and light pressure.

Also, I was thinking the rips in the wrappers were from someone, at sometime checking the back card but the Orr was on the back, so???????

Dunno, don't care. It was fun.

Yes it was! I think I was more excited than my 10 yo who opened one of the packs. He was disappointed when he didn't get any NJ Devils cards and no autograph cards
However, he has "rippin" fever.... he went on the BBCE site and made up a birthday wish list. There goes my card budget...

I won't be able to check my mail for another 3 or 4 days, but the truth is... it usually takes at least a couple weeks for anything to get to me??? What with all the free trade and such, grrr.
