New artwork (for those who care)...

Hey all,
I finally got two of these paintings from last semester photographed and scanned, so I thought I would repost them.
The first image is a shot of any manager's dream, the World Series winning 1938 Yankees at the big ballpark in the south Bronx. Included (from left to right) are: Frank Crosetti, Red Rolfe, Tommy Henrich, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Myril Hoag, George Selkirk and Joe Gordon.
The second image is from across the river at the Polo Grounds, April 23, 1937 - opening day!! That's Carl Hubbell on the mound, thowing the final pitch to the Boston Bees (Braves), compleing a 3-hitter, and winning for the 17th consecutive time in the regular season.

Thanks for checking them out!!

Yeah, you can go now!
BEAUTIFUL.
Thanks so much for all of your wonderful compliments! I am truly honored and humbled. It's been so nice to be well received by the community, and believe me, I will stay for quite a long time. I'm so glad that my art has touched you in some way, and hopefully, brought back some memories (especially for you old old timers out there).
To answer some of your questions, I do indeed do work outside of the baseball realm, but to be honest, this stuff is my pride, joy and passion. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to stay home and paint Yogi Berra jumping on Don Larsen??
Thanks again,
Graig

In response to your question Stingray, I have yet to tackle Briggs or Navin Field, though I CERTAINLY have plans to. For starters, I do have a painting in the works of the last pitch of the 1934 World Series (Dizzy dean and the Gashouse Gang). What's more appropriate for a Detroit fan though, I am looking for the right reference shots to do something with Gehringer, Greenberg or possibly Kaline. I am going to head up to Cooperstown at some point over the next few months, and hopefully, rape and pillage their photo archives...
Thanks again!!

Like Mike said, these just leave me speechless. They'd be a prize to own. Keep up the great work!

Graig - I was just looking at the painting you posted a while back - this one looks similar - did you paint it over or rework the original?
mike
Thank you again for all of the warm remarks, I truly appreciate the kind words.
Mike, the two paintings are indeed the same. The scan you brough back up again is an older shot (albeit SLIGHTLY reworked) and quite frankly, a little more correct in terms of the color. I have to still fool around with that stuff in Photoshop, which will hopefully get done within the next few days.
As of now, I'm working on a piece for the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair, NJ. I'll post some in-progress photos when I can.
Thanks again!

I don't quite remember whether this applied to this forum or another, but a few people asked me when my printer would be back up and running and available to make prints. Well, today is the day!!

Additionally, I've enclosed a rough scan (sorry about the glare) of the Honus Wagner portrait I intended on using for my mock t206 business card. I am unsure as to whether I am sticking with the idea, but I figured I would show you guys anyway...
Thanks!

How much? SWEET ARTWORK!!!
I need some motivation to get started....I am not sure if I want to do a big player and a simple background or a small player with a detailed stadium background....
Have you seen the fine art hanging at the hall of fame...it is awesome...many styles.....went there sunday
besides painting i want to photography my brooks robinson collection with a medium format camera.....soft lighting, jersey bat, cards, pins, glove ect....
Its all in my head I just need a jump start
Thanks again for sharing the paintings...they are beautiful... Scott
quitcrab: Thanks for the compliments!! Regarding my sources, I use many different ones including: photos, photo composites, dvd screencaps, drawings, composite drawings and much more. After some work in photoshop, I can come up with what I need and from there, either through grid or freehand, I'll transfer the final drawing onto the canvas. I primarily work large, usually over 3' x 4' and depending on the subject matter and amount of research that needs to be done, they can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. All of them are oil on acrylic primed canvas (I usually don't have enough time to work on oil primed, and would rather not buy preprimed).
As for advice into getting starting, It might be best to work with a large figure, maybe even just a portrait shot. The large stadium scenes are certainly labor intensive and can be rather intimidating. If you're just looking to get your feet wet, a headshot might be a great place to look...
