PENS ARE STAYING

It's a great day for the people of Pittsburgh,PA. Our beloved Pens are staying home. The Pen fans are great. I'm a huge Steelers fan and I do go to some hockey games. Those fans are cult-like. They deserved to see the Pens stay in Pittsburgh.

Doh, guess that means we will have to rape and pillage some other city's NHL franchise image

Oh, please Stown. You didn't have a chance. KC is so desperate to put someone in our brand new taxpayer funded downtown arena that they were offering rent free residence and even partial ownership in the building.

That thing's almost finished and I think the City is starting to feel the pressure of building a new arena, when the old one isn't even paid off yet, and not having anything to put in it.

I don't think anyone can out rape and pillage KC right now. We have the motivation and the momentum. Heck, we even took most of the players from NO's arena football team.

And your city's taxpayers, because that's who really gets pillaged when these billionaires try to extort the best deal out of cities.

I wonder how much Pittsburgh taxpayers will be footing the bill for these gazillionaires.

Actually both of you are wrong.

We already have a brand-spankin-new stadium which was built with hockey in mind.

So the raping and pillaging of our fine city has already been done.

  • I'm glad they're staying. "Pittsburgh Penguins" has a great ring. And the city has a great hockey history. It would have been sad to see it end. But when is Vegas going to get a pro sports team? I think it's about time.

Probably a lot. But if they weren't willing to foot the bill for the new arena they could have let the Pens walk. These gazillionares have every right in the world to ask the city to pay for the new stadium, and the city has every right to tell them to go pound sand if they don't want to pay for it.
