How vulnerable is Memphis in tourney? Anybody watch them? My South brackett is a mess - lol.

I honestly couldn't force myslef to take them over A&M, but heard a couple announcers say they took them to the final 4? I believe that the bracket #1 is suspect. Not only because I hate OSU (U-M fan, so it's natural), but OSU struggles to score. Further, I think the Big 10 wasn't very strong and OSU lost to the only 2 good teams they played in preconference (NC, Florida) with Florida crushing them by 26. Oden is talented, but I don't think he's going to be able to put together 6 straight and they'll lose to a solid team without him playing big IMO.

Memphis is 30-3, but really didn't play anybody. By eyeing their schedule and the brackett, it looks like they played a tourney team 5 times and lost 3 of them. 4 of the 5 games were close, but they didn't play a real powerhouse out of those 5 with the highest rated tourney team being a 5 (Tennessee) and that was the game they got smoked by 18. Further, their team barely shot over 60% from the line this year and that has to hurt them come tourney time. I really cannot pick them to be upset in the first or second round because that brackett is thin and they could manage to go quite far. That would cost me a lot of points. The question is, "Are they good enough to beat A&M or Louisville"?

Man, I love/hate filling out these bracketts. I need a beer and a dart board before I continue image

Memphis is a question mark to me, because they really haven't beaten much of anyone. The only notable wins were over Georgia Tech (and that was very early in the season) and at Gonzaga (by one, and while that team was in a funk). I think they were overseeded given their SOS, but I don't see them having problems in round one. Nevada or Creighton could pose an interesting matchup, though.

As far as "lower" seeds (not in the top 4 seeds in any regional), I like Louisville here. I think they were underseeded and they were too heavily penalized for their slow start.

Yeah, I just cannot take them too far because they are basically untested. I like Louisville and A&M a lot in this brackett. The problem is that they'll meet in the second round and I have to take one. I liked A&M's play all year and just have to go with them, as I do feel they can beat OSU and make the final 4. If Louisville beats them, I hope they go far... Might save me some points.

  • Memphis will lose in the 2nd round to the Wolfpack...at least that is how I have it

    Georgia Tech beat Memphis.

If TAMU can beat Louisville in Lexington, they should make the final four since the next two rounds would be in San Antonio.

All I care about is Kentucky first getting past Villanova and then upsetting Kansas in the second round (I do have two BAs from Kentucky you know). We put up a good fight against top seeded Conneticut last year (lost by four), and since Kansas has a history of choking in the NCAAs (especially as a top seed; they actually trailed a 16 seed with five minutes left back in 1997!) I really like our chances. I kinda like Kentucky being the underdog personally (change of pace, you know?) and I was at Rupp Arena when we upset then #1 ranked Florida back in Feb 2003; first time since 1979 we beat a #1 at Rupp. Maybe by upsetting Kansas, it'll shut up all those ungrateful anti-Tubby people. image I'm just glad we didn't get Florida in our quadrant, cuz they'll most likely blow everyone away.

    GO CATS!!!

PS: And what's up with Louisville and Benerick practically getting home court advantage!?!? It's not like they're a top seed or anything.image

I was right, Florida did indeed blow everyone away. image Now let's see if Mr. Donovan chooses to go to Kentucky for next season; you can't say he doesn't have the championship coaching experience! image
