Dull Colors in My Scans?

Can anyone help? My scans are coming out a bit "dull" lately.

Here's an example:

Old scan (nice and bright)

New scan (dull and drab)

I haven't changed any settings that I'm aware of. I've tried scanning at night, in the day and everything else. I do keep the lid open when I scan, but that hasn't changed.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Play around with the brightness and the contrast with what ever photo editing software you use. Some scanner software lets you modify the scan settings. Something might have dumped to an old default or something.

There may be dust on the inside. That happened to an old scanner I had. I opened it and was amazed when I wiped all of the dust off.
