Oldest card to have an authentic autograph?
I have been getting into autographs here recently. I was just wondering what the oldest known autographed card. Are there are Goudey's that are autographed? I would say so, but I have never seen one. What about tobacco cards? Has anybody ever seen an autographed T206? That would be pretty neat.

I would love to see a scan of something like that.

I have seen several signed T cards but none for several years.
Signed Goudeys and such from that era (1930s) are "relatively" common...
I'm speaking of vintage signatures here, not old cards signed in the last 20-30 years.

<< <i>I still think cards signed by well-known players who unfortunately died the same year as the signed card are impressive. The 1979 Topps Thurman Munson in Mastro's last auction sold for over $3200. '78 Bostocks are also pretty scarce and someone here posted a signed 1972 Topps IA Clemente. >>
I agree 100%. That would be really neat (though unfortunate for the signer) to have.

Great googly-moogly! I would pay a fee just to see that! (Not really, but you get my point)

Why haven't you gotten this authenticated?

There are some T206's, especially Marquard, since he was still alive into the 1980's.

This is true - I remember seeing this card as well. I think it had been signed when he was a scout with the Red Sox circa 1940s, but damn impressive...
Time. I am very slow when it comes to sending in anything for grading or authenticating. I try to spend my time with my two kids and am usually too tired to get things together to send in after they go to bed. Besides, I basically forgot I had it until I saw this thread. Its been sitting in my safe for quite a few years. I probably will send it in before the summer though.

My earliest, a recent pick-up:
Someone over on the N54 boards has a signed Cracker Jack, I forget who the player is though, not a HOFer I know that much. There are also a handfull of signed T-206 Cobbs out there including at least one green portrait.

<< <i>The N300 Duffy, sold for $2250 (before juice and shipping) in REA 2005. I didn't win but I know who did.

Wow! I think that Duffy takes the cake. I don't know how you can get any older than that. That is impressive.
As far as Fred Lindstrom goes, I just met his nephew a month ago and bought his entire card collection. That's a neat auto. I have an auto on a 3 x 5 card, but it is signed "Freddie" and not "Freddy" like yours. I guess he signed it both ways.
