Has anyone dealt with this seller?

I am very frustrated over the ebay seller (555)! After a few transactions with them, I have bought NM-MT cards from them only to have the cards arrive loosely in a top loader. No penny sleeve to keep it from bouncing around inside the top loader. Needless to say, the cards have dinged corners. Some are so severe that there are corner creases! I have emailed them each time requesting penny sleeves OR sending them in card savers with cardboard reinforcement, but to no avail. I told them that they have seen the last of my hard earned money and that I am shocked that a big time powerseller would have such lousy packaging practices. Anyone else have problems with them?

  • Top loaders with no penny sleeves held together by Scotch tape...yep that is (555) on eBay. You can tell them all you want to pack properly, but it won't happen. They do too much (nickel and dime) business for them to change their model.

You are doing the best thing and that is to not bid on their stuff.

I've had 2 power sellers accept my money and then resell my cards.

Thankfully, discountcardz got NARUed some time back, but biggtimesports is still going - and ebay has left him on Power Seller status despite 97% feedback. One of his recent negs says it all: "No response to e-mails, messages, or PayPal dispute."

If you use his TOTAL pos FB, and deduct the NEGs, you are
likely to find that he is still over 98%.

To be honest, and don't any of you older fella's take this the wrong way, but I've always found sellers that fail to use sleeves inside top loaders to be:

    1) tight wad sellers who don't want to spend that extra penny on a freaking sleeve.

    2) old timers, guys over 55 who don't believe in them or maybe are just not aware they exist. These are the sellers that you see at shows with the same display every time. Who never change with the times or the hobby's evolution.

    3) They also don't believe in grading and call everything Ex-Mt even if the card has creases.

    4) They also like to price all their cards at high beckett regardless of the grade.

I'm 43 and I've always found the above to be true. Many times it's simply the older dealer who is stuck in the 1970's with grading, pricing, and supply use.

I once was buying a '71 Jerry West off a dealer who had it sitting in a penny sleeve in a box. After I paid him for the card, he actually asked for the penny sleeve back. You guessed it, he was about 15 years older than me and stuck in the 1970's. I ended up getting a 9 on that card so I didn't mind giving the guy back his penny sleeve.

He has 116645 positives, and 3176 other than positive (negatives and neutrals combined). He probably makes the "98% total positive" if you don't count the neutrals against him, but the percentage of his total feedback that's positive is only about 97.4%.

What this means is that it's utterly pointless to leave a neutral for a Power Seller - it doesn't affect his standing with ebay at all.

However, it would be interesting to see if ebay actually enforces their requirements that Power Sellers not commit listing violations.
Methinks it's time to scrutinize some people's listings carefully for things to report.

Mr. cardbender - Overgrading & overpricing are not exclusive to seniors. Was the Jerry West overpriced? It obviously was not overgraded. Don't worry about me taking it the wrong way, very soon I will forget anyway. A while back Mr. Zef decided that no one over 70 knew how to navigate the computer. I was going to respond to that but the older gentleman easily knew how to defend himself & did't need any help. I have been a lurker for a long time & did not want to get involved in the name-calling & ill will that sometimes comes into play. I finally decided to chime in but I will not call you a whippersnapper because that would be rude.
