I'll go in on a box.

I bought a box of these as a 8 year old in Kentucky in Ashland, KY with some XMAS money I had recieved the day before and remember opening the packs. AAHHH wish I had the cards today.

What is cost per box? I may buy one to hold from BBCE for nostaliga since they are going to look great straight from a case and another to do a pack rip with you guys. I have never bought ANYTHING to NOT OPEN is there a type of hard case to keep it safe in?

Let me know the cost I thought over 100.00 a box was high for the product but will go in to RELIVE THE DAYS of an 8 year old!

  • Bunch of PSA NM-MT 8s.

You can sell your 8s for $.99 apiece on eBay, you know.

Exactly. This is a tough set to collect. I bought a box and sent the best six condition-wise to PSA. 5 8's and a 7. Ouch.

I'm in only if Gary puts it together and my box has water damage image
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • Lots of fun, though!

    Just rarely makes financial sense.

I suppose you'll be wanting the packs stuffed with commons and freshly resealed as well?

Great point. This is one of those sets where if you're not emotionally/ethically prepared to trim the best cards you get from the break then you're going to burn up the $125 you paid for the box.

Boy, this would be a fun rip....but, a TOUGH one! I sent in two cards that I thought had possible shots at 10s and I ended up with a 9 and an 8. I'm about halfway done with the set, but I haven't been that active lately with it as I'm trying to finish off the '72 set and the '84 Donruss sets. But, it's a beautiful set!

i may need to jump on some of those .99 8s to finish my set.

    Thanks,

  • If you do go in on this case, you'd have to do so not expecting anything worthwhile for grading. From my experience you lose 2-4 cards per pack to gum damage. Throw in PSA's extremely harsh grading of this set, and how unkind wax packs are to this series, and you'd have to do open it simply for fun.

However, this is an absolutely fantastic set. What are typically boring team cards have fantastic photography, and the player cards in general have great eye appeal.

Doesn't a raw set go for like $40 and top rookie is Moon?
