They are all fakes! Run, run far away.

I love the one pic that shows a factory set 1990 score baseball and the red cards in that box are probably 1990 Donrussimage

    Someone's going to get burned.

That one auction with the 4 Mays cards look like they were printed with an ink jet printer.
  • The auction is now up to $4550 image

LOL. Got to love the four '52 Mays cards, since hey-- we all know you're not REALLY a card collector until you've got about a half a dozen of those kicking around in a 3200 card box somewhere. The reprinted Goudeys are also a clever touch.

Here's an interesting question: Which sucks worse--- being the sucker who gets torched to the tune of 5K on one of these deals, or being that guy's wife? Think about it. There are compelling arguments for both sides.
  • What was used on the right border of the Clemente? Hedge clippers? WoW!

Why does that seller only get a $200 buyer-protection scheme from PayPal?

After looking at the cards I think the poster is right on who suggested these are ink-jet copies. All of the '50's cards just look too flimsy.

I have to admit, bidding 5K on this lot and getting photocopies of the cards would actually be kind of funny. A lot more funny if it wasn't my money, mind you, but still pretty funny nonetheless. And the disclaimer email which would doubtlessly follow -- 'Sorry you're disappointed but I don't know much about cards, sorry but I don't do refunds' would be the stuff of legend.

Amazing that someone with that kind of money to spend would actually think the cards are real.

    "Molon Labe"

  • I emailed them asking for a scan of the backs of the Ruth cards.
Wonder what the odds are that they ignore my email?
  • I'm going to bid then send fake money. Maybe Monopoly or Life!

Yea, but send them inkjet copies of the Monopoly money, not the "real" Monopoly money. LOL

this person has no history as a seller, what are these bidders DAFT???? puckin fathetic image

That was the type of auction where if someone did purchase it and received the goods, you'd have some SERIOUS legal action going down. It would be something quite lawyer worthy and the seller would wind up in jail for some serious fraud.

I almost got burned on that '56 Mantle a few years back - those are high quality reproductions and the backs are the same. Doesn't say reprint anywhere. Look at the scan of the '56 Mantle and compare the colors to a real one. The fake shows unreal colors, part of the printing process, that eliminates the brillant colors of the originals. It would be safe to say that any high quality '56 and earlier star card with this kind of dull finish is a fake.

Funny how all 4 of the 52 Mays have the exact same centering.

Same with the Ryan rookies. No wait, he took too much off one of the left edges.
