Tell me I am not misreading this purchase

Did I read this right? The SMR says $315 in PSA 10. This card is a 1/1. Please verify that I didn't screw it up.

1978 Guy LaFleur

What concerns me is that this card is more expensive than most of his early cards. I am guessing the SMR had bad information. Even so it wasn't the worst purchase I ever made.

The SMR price was obviously created before the first 10 was ever graded, so it was based on pure speculation, not actual sales data. Either way, I think you got a real nice bargain. Congrats! image
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • 79 cards graded with only 1 10? I think its a steal at the price. I guess everyone was asleep tonight or it just slipped through the cracks...

You can't be serious? I have two of that card in PSA 10. The pop report must be wrong.

nice purchase. too bad Brett Favre has four Raw cards that will grade
PSA 10 that are at PSA now.

JK. I gotta play with you czar. Resell that thing now and turn a nice profit

    no reselling that one.

i can take a joke jk, i won't rag too much on your boy tonight. he's down to one receiver and no running backs and spelling psa is too difficult for him. he's much better at throwing aaron brooks type passes nowadays and laying down for strahan sacks.

poor mr. lombardi, rolling over in his grave many times wondering when this yokel is going to hang it up so the once proud packers can return to glory.

do you only collect graded packers? i may have some vg raw ones from my childhood laying around.

    The seller misspelled LaFleur.

That's why you got a steal.

thanks for your thought, however at this point i'll take psa's opinion of a 10 over yours anytime.
  • I saw that one last night. I was going to put in a snipe, but decided to go after some '71 baseball instead. You got a helluva deal there Czar...didn't realize SMR is that high on that one or I would've sniped...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

The SMR is a misprint. There is no way that card is worth more than the Bossy in PSA 10. It should probably be priced the same as Dryden and $100 in a PSA 10. With that said SMR is irrelevant anyway in this case as the card is a 1/1. I would think you did very well to get the card for the price you paid.

aro i think you are right. that smr seems way to high to me as well. oh well, one less card i need for the set.

Wha? I know, I know---- a 'PSA 10' thread doesn't really come into its' own until one of the resident eagle-eyes chirps in about how offended they are by the card's centering, but this is too much. Probably 40% of all PSA 10's out there have at least a slight tilt to them, and there's no way this one is worse than most others.

I've personally gotten at least 100 cards into PSA 10 slabs that were as 'nicely tilted' as this one.

    roarin,
i know you are relatively new here so let me fill you in the protocal of this board.

    1) my wife looks like john madden
    2) my daughter looks like borat
    3) i have an affinity for getting dressed up in nothing but lacy red underwear to watch "the view" and oprah.

these are all acceptable reasons to be negative about me.

but never neVER, NEVER, EVER be critical of someones graded card.
