General help with '71 OPC CFL Football??

I had a guy call me last night with a complete set of these cards. The last book that I have shows the set at $300 in NRMT condition.

There doesn't apear to be alot of anything in the set except Theisman's card.

My questions to the football guru's.....

Are these rare? Bring any sort of resale value?

They are colored cards and VERY condition sensitive....this set that I saw last night is probably EX+/NM overall..with a few NM cards..and one or two NM-MT. The checklist was garbage...but it's not worth a whole lot anyways.

Any history tpbe had here??

Thanks in advance,

I sold a couple of complete CFL sets on ebay back in the fall that were in about the same condition as the set you are describing and both fetched well over half book. My sets were older that the one you are inquiring about, but nevertheless a nice mid-grade '71 set should certainly command half book if the Theismann is solid. I will say, however, that the '71 set is probably the most available CFL set from that era--maybe the Theismann rookie tends to make more guys bring it out for sale; I dunno.

BTW, if you happen to come across any 1970 CFL Push-Out inserts kindly keep me in mind. These are blank backed and have a player inside a football on the front.

  • Eyebone,

    will do...

The guy that has them grew up in Nova Scottia and still has family and land there. I just bought some late 70's and 80's OPC baseball from him too.

He says he has TONS of hockey cards..but didn't bring them here because..he didn't think that "any flat landers liked hockey"!!

He says he'll "TRY" to remember to bring them back with him this summer..
