card show

Hi all I need your advice there is a card and comic show coming up in Vancouver next Sunday,I have touched bases with one of the sellers and he wants to buy my Davy Crockett (green back) cards from me.Now what should I do?Go straight to him as he wants to swap/buy them OR try for a "deal" from someone else in the show?

I have never been to a show before as I buy all my cards from ebay or local yard sales. I collect not sport cards (custer, starwars,Davy Crockett, thunderbirds,Beatles, lost in space, man on the moon, civil war news, horrors of war the usual stuff). So what is good manners at a show do I haggle a price or offer my swaps as part exchange or offer my cards for straight swap?
I have literally hundreds of swaps I know what sort of money I want for them,BUT will a dealer offer me a fair price or will I get shafted,I am pretty excited about going but on the other hand a bit nervous that I will be paying over the odds. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Any of you live up this way and going there? Thanks all

Good luck - show the guy what you have. He will ask you what you want for the cards. Tell him.

After that it depends on how realistic you are and how much he wants to pay for inventory.

If you have arrange to meet him to show him the cards, I would going to him first as a coutesy. If you do not like his offer, you can always shop them around.

  • I would trade the Crockett cards for a racoon hat. That would be sweet...or maybe some pixie dust.

Have a price predetermined at which you would be happy to sell them. Go to the guy first (as mentioned above) and give him the first shot at buying.

Also mentioned above is that the guy will probably ask what you want for them. If you have to start off the bargaining, go above your predetermined price as it is part of the GAME. He will then most likely counteroffer you a lower price. If above your predetermined price, take it. If not, then tell him your lowest price is your predetermined price.

How hard up are you to sell these cards? If you do not need the cash, then stick to what you think is a fair price. If you need cash then you will probably have to lower your asking price. Just leave knowing you are happy whether you sold the cards or not. Sometimes it is not meant to be to sell your cards at this show.

Also, how plentiful are these cards? I do not know much about nonsportcards. Being that you buy on Ebay, what have these cards been selling for on EBay, that would be a good indication of value.

    Best of luck.
