I finally passed MOSH on a set!

It probably won't last, and I'm only in #3, but hey, he's #4 now! Besides, it's the only set (out of 29) that I'm in where they are behind me. I know the set itself is nothing terribly impressive either and yes, I know their set is still better and if they were at the same completion % as I was, they'd be ahead of me... I know, I know, I know.

I'm still proud to see it, if even for a short time. lol

Now, anybody have a 97 SP Authentic Warrick Dunn? I've bought a half dozen of them raw and not a single one was even worthy of an 8.

Ok, just wanted to pay myself on the back...I think I pulled something in my shoulder. image

Thanks for letting me celebrate my achievement. It's a small victory...but it's a start. image

bighurt - I could use it as a placeholder for now. I am submitting 3 Mayberry rc's, 2 Giles rc's, a Lynch and a Simeon Rice. I may not have grades for quite some time though. They are getting sent out tomorrow.

  • Cool Envoy,

Let me know how the results come out. I look forward to hearing from you.

How does KEYSHAWN JOHNSON get into the All-Time Buccaneers set with only 4 seasons?
  • I just retired my Buc's set as #1 All Time. Congrats to you. By the way, look out for Mad. He will be number one in no time!

Yeah, Mad has picked up some really nice cards. It took me a while to figure out who he was on ebay, I didn't figure it out until he bought from me.

To be quite honest, the Bucs set doesn't mean a whole lot to me but it was pretty easy to put together. I'm certainly not bragging about the accomplishment, I just like the feeling of seeing my name ahead of MOSH, in anything, even for a short time. lol

I do want the #1 Vikings spot though...It'll take me a while, but I'll get it.
  • Do you need a PSA 10 John Randle rookie for the Vikes set? I have one for $125 delivered.

Thanks, but I don't think I will. I have 25 of them now. 17 are getting sent off today. I think there are at least 5 or 6 that are 10's. I am sending off some Doleman's as well that should net me one or two 10's by my estimation.

I would like to find the psa 10 Steve Jordan that exists and one of the psa 10 Chuck Foreman's. The 2 that are graded just showed up but no idea who owns them.
  • Check with Kevin at elitecards. He is the 86 man and might have a raw Jordan that will grade out even if he does not have the 10.

I bought several wrapped pro set sets for my Randles. I believe there were 35 sets. I pulled 11 good ones and got back 5 PSA 10's and 6 PSA 9's.

Good luck and check they backs for chipping because that is how the 6 came back as 9's instead of 10's. I also found out that someone who bought one of my 9's had it bumped up to a 10 with a PSA review.

I'm here to question, not to inspire or build up. To live how I want, as I see fit,
according to my values and my needs. Nothing holds dominion over me, I stand alone as the ruler of my life.

    Jason, You're surprised?
I am a little surpsed to see a 9 bumped to a 10 I guess. Not usually surprised by the 7's and 8's that get bumped in the vintage world anymore. I actually have it on my list of things to do, to go through and pull cards from my registry that I think are undergraded. I still think my Namath is a 5, not a 4. My Joe Perry is as nice or nicer than all my 50 Bowman's in a 6, yet it resides in a 5 holder. I have a PSA 7 Doug Wilkerson 75T that is as nice as my PSA 9 Drew Pearson, even under 10x. It should at least be an 8. I guess it's true that any card can go one grade higher or lower depending on the day... There certainly are high-end and low-end versions of every card in every grade. Maybe they just didn't want to give Scott a 10 because he already had 5 or 6 of them on that sub. image

Scott, thanks for the lead, I will check them out. Does elitecards have a website or are they on ebay?

BTW, do you have a Larry Allen '94 Playoff rc? I am sending in 2 of them. Expecting a 9 on one and the other is borderline 8/9. There are very few graded though so I figured what the heck. Normally I'd toss it in a box if I thought it was an 8 but there might still be a small market for it. I have a couple more from asst'd places but don't think I'll have them in time to send off with this sub.

Surprising choice there if you ask me.

  • Brian,

Elitecards is in the 86 Registry. No website. I do have a PSA 10 Larry Allen pop of 1. I have an extra PSA 8. Those cards are hard. I bought 6 or 7 boxes and I got 3 PSA 8's and 1 PSA 9. I bought the 10 from a fellow Cowboy collector.

On the upgrade front, I have been running anywhere from 20-30% in upgrades when I send review batches into psa. In the last batch, I had a 73 Youngblood PSA 9 bumped to a 10. I think it is well worth a shot to send your best candidates in. If you have a good eye, you might get 2 or 3 bumps out of every 10 you send for review. In my case, the last batch cost me about $150 to do reviews for and I sold the Youngblood for 10 times that amount. Just 1 grade bump is worth the review costs of several cards most of the time.

  • Brian,

I know Marc Dubbins needs a PSA 9 Allen if you get one. His email is vpprotege@aol.com
