UUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

It really drives me crazy to see $4.00 shipping or even more for a single friggin' card. image

I also hate it when they charge $3.00 for first and $1.00 for each additional card. So..... for 10 cards, that's $12 to ship, when it should be about $2.00.

Sorry, just had to vent. It really makes me mad when I find a card I need and the Buy It Now is just about right on a card less than $10, and the shipping is that high. I just about refuse to buy it. I know that's only a few dollars, but it's just the principle of the thing, ya know?

I think a good rule is $2.50 for a single, ungraded card, plus 0.25 for each additional. For graded, I start at $3.00 and add 0.50 per...
  • I agree with the 2.50 for first card and .25 to .50 for the second card. Thats with delivery conf.

When I do sell, which is not often, I charge 2.75 for the first and .50 cents for additional cards.

I always charge $1.95 for a single card and no additional charge for any extras (as long as I can safely fit them in a bubble mailer).

    I hear ya.

My wife and I just last week decided that we needed to buy some new stuff for the house and proceeded to the only furniture store in our area. We were in the market to buy a new washer/dryer, upright freezer and bed. First thing we look at the washers and dryers and before we have made up our minds they are writing up a receipt on one of the more expensive sets they have (about $1,200) and I tell them that it is not what we need and look around and find a washer for $379 and a dryer at $399. Find a freezer I like (Think it was 20 cubic feet) at $599 and a queen size bed which the salesman said included everything for $661. Tells us since we are buying so much that they can give us a great deal and they took off a whole $77.

    Total $2,075.35

Pay with the credit card and they tell us it that it all will be delivered and set up two days later. Well we get home and I started thinking about the bed and tell my wife I bet any money that the bed doesn't come with the frame and she calls them up and asks and they say that for $661 it DOES NOT come with the frame. She proceeds to ask them what they intended to do when the delivered the bed and they say that they would just put it on the floor unless we want to pay them $48 for the frame (Remember they said that it included EVERYTHING) and my wife starts arguing about the fact that they didn't tell us that we would have to pay extra and they say well how about we pay what it cost them ($24) and finally a guy in the background says "oh just give it to them" . Well by this time my wife has had enough and tells them to run the card number and take off what was just spent because we no longer want to deal with them. They say the will not and that they will be delivering in two days and hang up. Wife calls the credit card company and after some talking they say that if they don't do as we say and do deliver to refuse it. My wife calls the furniture store back and tells them that she has been in contact with the credit card company and that we are not going to accept delivery and that they are to credit the card. The give in but want us to drive back to town to do it and wife says no way to which they say that they don't need the card anyway and finally do as we had asked them to do.

Now some would say all this over $48 and how stupid is that but the fact is it's the principle because they said that everything was included in the price (Could have raised more of a stink and told them I wanted the headboard that was attached to it as well) and all they had to do was when they were called is say that they made a mistake in saying that but would throw in the frame for free but they choose to argue about it and if they were going to be like that now what would happen if the appliances needed work while under warranty?

I charge $3 for first graded card and then 25 cents for each additional.

I nearly bumped it up to $3.50 plus 25 cents per card, but I've been doing okay without the extra cost so far.

High shipping costs are normally used by seller to offset the high cost of selling on Feebay. Just factor in the shipping into the price your willing to pay for the card.
  • Hey,

Now this is a lot for postage. Almost got me to hit the BIN before I took notice of the shipping charge.

$14 to ship one graded card USPS 1st class

    Ken
  • I think people do that because ebay does not charge you a fee on the shipping. I think the practice is wrong but alot of people do it.

Why don't people do this? It's just common sense. If shipping costs aren't stated, either 1) don't bid or 2) ask the seller.
  • I don't care what people charge for shipping as long as:

1.) I know the price prior to auction end

    2.) The card arrives undamaged.

3.) The card arrives in a reasonable amount of time.

    4.) The card arrives.

I can understand the gripe but you need to factor shipping into your bidding.

Not saying it's right; just is what it is.

Oh, I agree. I do factor it in. That's why I didn't buy it.

By the way, my shipping is $1.95 for raw cards, not graded. I ship graded for $2.95.

For me - $1.50 raw - $2.00 graded for the first card - and $0.50 for each additional card. And I will usually discount further if the purchase if for 4 or more cards.

I have to say that I believe that I have gotten a couple deals on ebay recently due to high shipping. I think the high shipping turned off some potential bidders and I was able to get the items without any competition.

I have been charging only $1 for raw cards, plus .25 for additional cards. I have been getting satisfactory to very, very satisfactory prices for the cards. Once in a while I am disappointed, but not real often. My lots are almost always sold out (only three unsold lots in the last 6 or 7 months). It seems to be working for me, so I hate to change anything. I don't want to raise my shipping costs to, say, $1.50 or $2 and then have more unsold lots and/or lower prices realized by $1, $2, $3 or whatever. I suppose I could experiment a little and see what happens.

I charge $2, no matter how many auctions they win. I've shipped 6 together and stillonly charged them $2. I'm an idiot, but I don't like ripping people off on shipping. Besides, I like to think they would enjoy buying from me by doing that... yep, I'm still an idiot.
