A Chris Hinton RC isn't worth this much - right???

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

    $200+

It looks like they're using a past sale to figure out the starting price. Wow.

I dont know what 4-sharp is thinking, I'm sure they have sold more 84 Topps football cards in this grade than most of us have ever seen.
So for them to put them to put this up at this price is puzzling.image

    (9) Hintons have been graded, with (3) PSA 9s. What's up with this card? Maybe they meant the auction to read opening bid of $15.00, with a BIN of $19.99?

One sold on ebay on March 2nd for $201. The winning bidder had only 2 feedback, but the other bidder had several hundred. There were only 2 bidders. The other card was diamomd cut.

this is a tough card....i wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't sell next week when they relist it for half of the asking price.

    Thanks,

I think the $200 one had an opening bid of $100. Which really surprised me, but then I saw the 8 sell for $16 and the 9 go over $200...Nothing surprises me anymore really...

I picked up a handful of these raw, in really nice shape for about 20 cents each. I am sending a couple in tonight for grading. They are all at least 8's so I'll triple my money off the grading fees alone it looks like. I do have 2 sets I purchased and in both, the Hintons were trashed. Not sure if there is a reason for that or not, the other cards were all PSA 8-9 quality.

Its those darn football guys again...

Whoever comes up with the first PSA 10 of the card will probably score $500+ easily...

I plan on being that guy...lol

EDIT: Dwight Stephenson PSA 9's from the same set consistently sell in the $150-$180 range...And the POP is much higher than the Hinton with no PSA 10's.

I don't think so, but you never know anymore. Look at Charlie Sanders this year. Where did that come from?

Edited to say: I'm just steamed because I sold Sanders' 1997 UD Legends Auto for about $6 the week before he was announced. I check a week later...$40-$50 for the same card!

I was really surprised by the Stephenson's too. The first few I saw went for $50-60, then all of a sudden one went for almost $100 then $150+. I have an 8, which I pulled from my aforementioned set. I think 84 Topps in general are really starting to heat up, as are/will the 89 Score. Star studded sets with more HOF'ers than you can count on 2 hands (if memory serves). I think Stephenson is still overlooked by many as a HOF'er, I don't know how many people realize he's in the HOF. To be quite honest, when I think of the receivers on the Dolphins from that era, I think of the Mark's brothers.

Some other 84 Topps cards have done quite well recently too. Including some future HOF'ers... Green, Grimm etc. Definitely a set worth having in your collection, even though most people think of Marino and Elway, there are plenty other gems to find in that set.
