I'm not that drunk julen.... yet. And yeah, I am choosing to open a pack of football cards rather than spend "quality" time with my lovely girlfriend who is waiting in bed right now. I have a serious problem.

Good call soft, drinking Tullamore Dew Irish. I can't open the pack and respond to you all at the same time. I'm leaving now.

Alcohol and amour become a much less enticing combo once we move past 30.

First section..... Not so good. A few decent cards besides the Anderson, a few gradable commons, not much else.

The Alan Page and Bob Griese are nice.

Alan Page is from Canton, Ohio (where I live). They named a street after him, and it's one of the most violent, if not THE most violent streets in the county. (yay)

2nd section- same as the first. Not much in terms of stars. A few gradable commons, a smudged Rashad, and an OC Alzado.

Third section. I also pulled an Archie Manning which is a lock for a 10.................

EXCEPT FOR THE DAMN INK ROLLER MARK GOING FROM THE TOP OF THE CARD TO THE BOTTOM!!

I just threw up in my mouth.

  • No Major Stars in my 2 racks, but a decent Rocky Bleier

Again, a few decent cards and gradeable commons.... It was still fun even though I didn't get any big cards.

If I catch PSA on a good day, I'll be alright on this one. A handful of potential tens, and I need about 2 to break even.

I've seen 9's with roller marks like that. I don't know that I've seen any 10's...
  • CDsNutsCDsNuts Posts: 10,092
I don't even think it will get a 9. The card is perfect in every other way. What a shame. Damn Topps factory workers putting too much ink in the machine.

ping, Sorry to hear no big stars, but a Bleier RC is just as good if not better than a Staubach or Bradshaw. PSA 9s can go anywhere from $75-$100. I really want to know who got the Swann and Fouts.

  • Can't figure out how to post a scan of it

It takes a while to get down. You have to host the picture on a site like Flickr.com, then click the little picture icon next to the underline button, then put the link to the picture in the text field.

There you go. Good job. Can't tell about the top two corners because of the pixelation, but if they're sharp it should be a 9. Nice card.

ping - Much better than that 1st scan. Agree it looks 9ish.

Lee - how about a little prior notice next time?
I've got a couple of 1975 racks laying around and a bottle of gin. Would have joined you.

CDs, too bad about that ink line on the Manning cuz that may be as good as centering gets.

Ahhhhhh gin. My other weakness. Sorry wolf, envoy's rip got me all fired up. Not too late for you to do yours.......

If I were you I'd rip because most of the packs have been accounted for and no Swann or Fouts. And Steve said he pulled this box out of a case, so you know it hasn't been screwed with.

Side, no kidding. It might have even pulled a BGS/BVG 10, which they don't ever hand out to older cards. A little touch-up with the whiteout should do the trick.......

I heard if you rub for about 2 hours with pantyhose, ink smudges will come out. Why don't you try it and let us know?

Sounds like this is turning into a late night thread. I'll add my martini (vodka, thank you very much) two cents to this and try to completely highjack it. I was going through the bike spoke fodder and noticed that I have a '59 Mantle that is in pretty rough shape. It's not torn in half or anything like that, but it has a very healthy crease through the top section and appropriate rounded corners. I remember a thread about what Mantles everybody has and the tone seemed to be if you had one, great. My question is should I get it graded as a 1 or 2 and just enjoy it or let it go to somebody that is trying to complete a so-so '59 set. I really don't have all that much of an emotional attachment to it (other than the winnings I got flipping it against that loser Rose).
