1952 Topps Baseball was a partial box, seen at the Kit Young Show in Hawaii in the mid Nineties, Not certain how many packs were in box or which table it was at.
I passed on a Sport Kings pack at the Cleveland National for 3K and have been kicking myself every since. A guy at the Hollywood Park show a few years ago had a full post war run, all of the Topps, Fleer and Bowman packs (except '49 pcl) and a '49 Leaf rare series pack. It was pretty amazing.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
The full run? Depending on who was standing in front of him he said he wanted anywhere from 125-200K for the run. The '52 Topps pack was a high number pack, I figured the Leaf pack conservatively at 20K, but not sure if the numbers were there. Even if they were I wasn't. He said he was going to consign it to Mastro, but I never saw it. Either it was pre sold or he held on to it.

I haven't been able to verify this, but I have heard from 2 sources that the 1930's Goudeys and Chicles were both never actually sealed. The paper was simply folded around the card(s)/gum. So, I think it is unlikely that any truly unopened packs exist from these sets, but I don't know for sure.
If I had money, I'd do a run of every Topps pack starting with 51 or 52, get them slabbed authentic and frame the whole thing. How cool would that look?

Liar. If you have money you'd be deuling with Mahatma heads up on UB until your eyes bled.
I played enough heads up online at the 50/100 level to make me go crazy. Once HU action at those limits dried up, I was gone. There were some really bad players at Doylesroom and Pacific about 2 years ago. HU isn't usually the way to go unless you completely outclass your opponent or you have an unlimited bankroll. So many hands, so fast.

Pacific was unreal for about five years. I'm a terrible, terrible NL heads up player, so I stayed away from that, but the shorthanded limit games were phenomenal--- as waws the PLO when a game got off.
I've watched some of those big NL games on UB before-- I'm thinking of the 100-200 and up--- and man, those boys are not scared to sling the chips around. Pushing pre-flop for 15K with pocket 7's? I've got some gamble in me, but I'm not wired like that.
As a side note, I was one of the first aggressive successful PLO8 players when UB first introduced the game online. That's always been my best game. I would sit at a shorthanded table where everybody's waiting for the nuts and just completely run over everybody. For some reason, people have trouble adjusting their 08 play when it gets shorthanded. Could you imagine sitting at a NL holdem table 4 handed where everybody's waiting for the nuts? PLO was good at one point but too many people figured it out. PLO8 can still be lucrative at the mid limits, but most hi limit players know what they're doing.
I'm going to AC tomorrow for a few tourneys. Haven't played a tourney in a few months.

Short PLO is another game I suck at, which is a little embarrasing-- and mystifying-- since it's a flop game. But I always end up with something like JT87 double suited against a maniac, flop trips on a two suited board, and get it handed to me.
I am, however, a decent 7stud player in short games, but I think that's due to the fact that I've got a decent memory.
Edit to add: Matusow is a moron. I can see him roaring through 20K in fifteen minutes. I saw spirit-rock take him for some unholy 5 figure sum on Full Tilt a year or two ago, and the match wasn't even that close.
If you understand Omaha is a flop game (many people don't), then raising preflop almost every hand short handed is the way to go. You isolate one or two players, bet the flop if it comes ugly or it hits you, and give up on it otherwise. If you can just break even on the pots you try to buy and get paid off on the hands you hit, you should end up ok. Never bet the turn unless you have it or if the other guy has enough to fold and you're going to call if he bets anyway.
The raising preflop almost every hand will give you an aggressive table image and you're more likely to get a guy calling with top and bottom pair or something like that, which is what you want.
I have seen a Piedmont cigarette pack, but not in person. It was just a picture. I guess the oldest I have seen in person is the 3 (now 2, and soon will be 1) 1955 Bowman packs that I own.

Really? How did the sugars in the cracker jack not corrode and get bug eaten over the last 90 years?
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Although I never saw it -- there was an SGC 98 Old Judge card (that was overgraded, according to some OJ experts) that was slabbed as having been removed from an Old Judge pack. In the perspective of baseball cards -- that is about as old as you can theoretically get.

Does anyone have any information on packs of the '30s? Specifically, I'm interested in National Chicle football packs, but I'm interested in old packs in general. As I said in my previous post, I've heard that these packs were never truly sealed, so any unopened packs are questionable. However, this could be false.
I'd also like to get a hold of a 1948 Bowman football pack, but I've never seen one. Has anyone ever seen one?
I'm pretty sure there was a '33 Tattoo Orbit pack in a Mastro auction (a year or two ago). There were some 33 Sport King 1 cents packs in circulation years ago, but you never see them anymore.
I would love to see any Goudey, National Chicle or Diamond Star pack. That'd be thrilling.
What about this little baby...saved from a Mr Mint auction...I guess the oldest hockey pack in existence, or close. '37/38 OPC 1 cent.
When my package from Steve Hart gets here the oldest I will have held will be my 1980 Topps Pack. I'm also hoping to win an auction for basically one pack of Topps cards from the past twenty years or so. Almost exactly what I've been looking for.
Omaha is a fun game, especially if you like to draw out. I'm more comfortable playing Hold'Em, but Omaha is fun every now and then when you want to draw out and make a hand. In my experience, in Hold'Em you want to hit the flop and make your hand there. In Omaha, you DON'T want to hit the flop and make your hand there. You'd rather make your hand on the turn or river so the other guy can't draw out. Poker has done a nice job of allowing me to afford my VERY modest collecting habits.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

if anybody has photos, please share, i try to save unopened pix (especially since i am can't afford the stuff!)

I have heard that, too. But, I am not certain it is correct.
The oldest graded and non-graded packs that I have
"held" were 1952 TOPPS.
