Any information on those football helmets from the 60s-70s?

Saw an article recently on those football helmets that used to sell in gumball machines in the 60s and 70s. Many times they had pencil sharpeners in them. I understand that the old ones do have some value to them. I also see that they are back in gumball machines again. Does anyone know how to tell an old one from a new one? I know some of the old ones many have old football team logos but how do they get dated? Are any very rare or desireable?...Any guides? Thanks for any information....Spazzy

I would go until I was out of money or until I pulled a Cowboy's helmet

so I doubt they have much value.
The oldest ones I have include the Giants, Bengals, Jets, Pats, Bills and a few others from the late 60s and early 70s. I remembered trading an old Chargers in 1972. I wish I still had that one. I do have an old Oilers but it was the light blue one. I do recall seeing a gray one somewhere and thought that was cool.

Like everybody else, I've always liked these (I distinctly remember, when I was around 5-6, seeing the Vikings helmet for the first time in my life as one of these and really liking it.)
A guy has a lot of 38 or so vintage ones or eBay right now. He's up to $38.00 bucks with 6 days left, so I think we're not the only people who dig these.
