Does anyone else like the Donruss Studio sets? I'd love to get the 1991-95 sets.

I especially like how in the first three years (1991-93) they tell you about the player's personal life; you will not believe how many baseball players were soap opera fans according to the 1991 set. I also love the 1995 Studio "credit card" set; very interesting and the gold inserts are worth about the same as a standard set too. Plus, even the 1993 and 1994 sets have only a few insert sets so making master sets shouldn't be too tough either.

Anyway, I noticed that BBCE has wax boxes of 1991, 1992, and 1993 Studio for sale; should I try to buy a box of each and make a set? I mean, I'd hate to come up one or two cards short, but then again, I don't know of any other dealers that will sell this many at once (actually buying all five in one purchase would be ideal). I'm also thinking of going the same route with Steve's 1993 Fleer wax boxes (he has both series) as that's the only Fleer set I need to finish my 1981-95 Fleer set run.

I guess perhaps this might be a good excuse to do my own solo wax box busting?

I have all of these sets, in binders. I collected them for a while, but gave up when they got difficult to complete. (97-98ish?)

I would be willing to part with them.

Feel free to PM me an offer.

They would not be that difficult to put together from wax, with the exception of 1995.

I guess they didn't put very many cards in a pack/packs in a box then? BTW, thanks so much for helping me be able to get all five sets in one purchase; you have no idea how hard it can be to do that on Ebay. And am I the only one in this congregation who finds the 1995 Studio set among the most interesting sets ever made? If it had come out a few years later, maybe they could've done black 1/1's inspired by this:

I always like the Donruss Studio line too. Always bought when I could. Still have all my cards, inserts, and
all those big 8X11 photos too. I have a big stack of extras too. Those credit card looking ones were nice too.
I know I never finished the set on those. I don't have much of the 91's if any at all. I didn't start to really
collect untill 1992. From there I was hooked on cards, untill about 3 years ago. I just had to really slow
down, prices of other things went up, and my funds had to change to other priorities. But I still buy cards
    now and then...
  • I probably have enough to put together the 91 set if you would like. I just wanted the Griffey...Sr. LMK

While we are on the subject (sorry, I can't resist)

If anyone has some 1993-1995 Studio cards available, I need 4 total cards:

    1993 Studio (2 cards needed)
    1994 Studio (1 card needed)
    1995 Studio (1 card needed)

the cards I need are commons/minor stars. I have a nice batch of star cards from 1991-1998 Studio I could trade (most of my "trade bait" is from 1993--with limited amounts for the other years). If anyone can help or wants to trade--please send me a PM.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • I would be interested in building a Yankee Studio set. I love these cards as does my boy. we pick them up whenever we can....

When searching on Beckett website--the sets are listed as just "Studio" (not "Donruss Studio").
