Grading help with 1973 Topps candy lids

After reading a recent post about candy lids. I dug-up some nice 1973 Topps candy lids that I would like to send in for grading. Can anybody explain to me the grading for these cards. What is a PSA1, PSA2, PSA3 and so-on. How tuff are they on centering and creases on the tab. What cards are worth sending in I have three nice Ryan's and a couple Bench's and a super sweet Kaline. Any help would be of use to me. Thanks Paul

A real nice set of these sold on ebay 2 months ago for about $900. All of the lids were decently centered and the tabs were bent but barely noticeable! Should have bought it as it was the nicest I've ever seen!
Centering does play some part along with wear on the edges top and bottom! All of the lids have bent tabs and the less noticeable the bend the higher the grade. If you have lids with no wear, decently centered pictures, and tabs showing a slight bend you might get a psa 7/8. I do see by the pop reports that the first few 9's have been graded in the last month! I'm thinking they came from the ebay set I mentioned earlier! Best of luck and I hope this gives a little help!

Various Red Sox
Did I leave anything out?
With the possibility of these being added to the basic sets, there may be some money to be made. None the less these are fun to collect anyway.
keeping my ears open for oddball cards of Rose from the 60's and 70's.
Loves me some shiny!
Whats the purpose for only issuing 5s and 6s for otherwise perfect condition candy lids. The set is a pretty neat looking set and somewhat scarce. PSA might get more people sending in them for grading and collecting slabbed sets if they didnt penalize for the bent tab....thats how they were issued....
i have a bunch of them but whats the purpose of grading them if they will receive 5s and 6s because they all have the bend in the lid
<< <i>I dont really understand why perfectly centered nice looking candy lids with the bend in the tab shouldnt be graded 7-9? I mean whats the reasoning? They were issued on as a LID with the bend.. PSA issues 8s and 9s for 1955 Topps Doubleheaders and T201 mecca folders and those cards all have a big flipping bend in the middle of the card b/c thats what happened when they packaged them and thats how they were issued....why treat the candy lid set differently? In my opinion, centering is the key to this set.....try to put together a nicely centered set, its quite a feat.

That's actually a pretty compelling argument, IMO, and there does seem to be a double standard when you consider how the doubleheaders are treated. However, if the card is more important then the slab then how they grade them shouldn't be an issue as long as they're consistent about it.
They're not going to change.
