So what is the deal with the smeared red ink from the shirt? Is every Rose card from that set printed that way? Seems like it would detract pretty significantly from the value of the card even for Rose collectors.
WOW , major miss on the seller and psa's part. that is one of the nicest 66's I have seen. probably was tucked into a topps set for years and the owner didn't know
granted the seller should know what he is selling. but all these mechanical errors are a big problem in my eyes. psa is suppose to be the best in the game but they cant figure out what a card is. this kinda says that maybe they dont always pay a close attention to details as we would think. if they can miss the printed in canada on the back, what else did they miss on the card.

I think this one is a tough call. since topps is the norm and the submitter sent it in as a topps card , I think there is little reason for psa to question what the card is and can easily miss it since they don't really have any reason to question what type of card it is. this happens a lot in hockey.
i think if it were the other way around , the seller submitted it as opc when it was topps, , psa is much more scrutinizing and it would have probably been switched to topps.
the only solution is to charge more for the service so that more time can be spent with every detail which nobody wants on lower value(less than $300) so if we want to keep having specials , you have to accept a small percentage of mechanical errors.
PSA really needs to pay more attention to detail. I know there are instances where they lable a card with what was on the invoice that the submitter provided but in my case I don't know what they were doing. I submitted at a show a 1949 Bowman Pee Wee Reese that was autographed to PSA and PSA/DNA. I picked up the card right before closing on the last day of the show and it was labeled as a 1949 Bowman Stan Musial. What sucks is they will fix it for free but I have to pay the shipping to and return shipping to fix their screw-up. Now I just have to wait until the next show that has on-site grading.
I was going to post this last night but I was tired. I think with the given print defect the card should be a lower grade or a qualified 8 (PD). Any chance the seller submited a 1966 Rose and a 1966 OPC Rose and they were slabed wrong. Maybe the seller has a PSA 8 (PD) OPC with what is actually a PSA 8 Topps Rose in the slab. This could explain the seemingly experiendced seller not picking up on the error by choice. Like I saw someone who had a PSA 9 Favre TSC Super Bowl card that was not the Super Bowl card, so the probably got the Super Bowl card back in the regular TSC Slab and decided not to correct the error and listed it and still got like $350 out of the regular issue that was slabed as Super Bowl. Wow I hope that isn't to difficult to follow.

<< <i>i think all the red blotches on the card are very detracting whether high grade or not. >>
Maybe it's a scanner issue. I cant imagine that would grade an 8 with those color issues.

I'd bet that they are not there. Scanner anomole.
i would b interested to hear psa's take on these situations, especialy considering how (apparently) nice the card is.
