Ebay selling question

I am new at selling and need some advice. I had some cards end yesterday, a 1973 team checklist . A new buyer with 0 feedback bid and won for $12.50. When I checked my messages last night, There was one from him saying he had problems in life and needed to retract his 3 bids. It was from 18 minutes or so before the end of the auction.

Is it better to relist and give him a negative or offer a second chance to the underbidder.

Any help or advice would be great.
Scott

Sounds like buyer's remorse. Offer it to the backup bidder if you want to sell it for less, file a non-paying bidder complaint. The fees aren't much on a $12 sale.

Guaranteed if you neg him you'll get a neg back.

We all have problems in life. Try and use the 2nd offer thingy, if not recoup your fees and file a NPB.

    Good for you.
  • $12.50.... I hope I never come to that but at least he communicated with you. I agree with Steve. NO Neg for this poor soul. Give him the benefit of the doubt this time. Hopefully he'll bounce back.

  • good luck on selling on ebay, it can be a very rewarding experience, try to stay away from those negs. If you give someone a neg they will react with a neg. If you are new and have a neg it really stinks. I have 100% on ebay I sell on and off but their are many times someone deserved a neg but i let it go to save my feedback score from being destroyed, The feedback system is flawed but i dont see any other way of them doing it. And Mabye he is telling the truth and every body deserves a break once and a while. Dave

  • Thanks for the help, I offered the second chance thing to the next bidder. If not, I will just relist. No negative, Life is too short to battle over trading negatives. Thanks again

I wish they would go to a blind feedback period. e.g. You leave feedback, but it is not posted until the other party leaves feedback or a set time expires and feedback cannot be let.

I'd just do the second chance offer. It's faster and free to try. If that doesn't work, you can always relist. But don't forget to get the fees back from the NPB by filing a NPB (non-paying bidder) claim...
