61 Gentile and Gibbon

Did you notice that the pair (sold separately) went for about $1600 last night? All I can say is that Kurtman must be a very happy seller.

Those are both tough cards, but not that tough in 8 - here's another Gibbon 8 from BBCE - not quite as nice as Kurtman's though.

Yes, Kurt is very happy with the sale. Both cards went for premiums that he didn't expect. This is what happens on ebay when two bidders want the same card very badly. image

  • Hi guys. Yes, I was surprised with those realized prices. The same 2 guys wanted both cards... alot. I figured the Gentile would go for big $ since it is rarely offered and haven't seen one in about a year or so. There have been several Gibbons sold in the last year and this one was for the highest amount. That's ebay I guess...win some, lose some. Btw, I will have the WS Virdon in an 8 up very soon.

Yeah the Gibbon is more reputation now than a true rarity. I think the Dick Stuart is just as tough. The World Series cards are also pretty hard to get any in an 8 but I think they too now have a mystique about them. I will never finish my Pirates team set at this rate.
