Pats are interested in Randy Moss plus other NFL tidbits

The Patriots have shown interest in dealing for Randy Moss. A source said Bill Belichick believes he could motivate Moss to play and that he'd have the locker room support system to back him up, thanks to high-character veterans like Tom Brady, Richard Seymour and Rodney Harrison.

There has been talk of the Bucs possibly trying to talk Jake Plummer out of retirement in an effort to trade his rights to either the Raiders or the Texans.

The Packers are most likely to look at hard-cutting backs such as Tennessee's Travis Henry and Chris Brown, New England's Corey Dillon and possibly Oakland's Lamont Jordan if he is released.
-- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Over the past few days, sources said Dre Bly has expressed concern with remaining a Bronco with several of his new teammates, as well as former ones in Detroit. Bly and agent Kennard McGuire declined comment.

Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael is on the trading block his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed Sunday night. A source said Saturday that the Dolphins are asking for a third-round draft choice.

Donté Stallworth, the Eagles' free-agent receiver, brought some baggage with him when he hit the NFL's open market Friday. According to league sources, Stallworth is a participant in the NFL's substance-abuse program, which could subject him to a league suspension if he were to violate the terms of the program again.

Dominic Rhodes concluded his visit with the Giants yesterday without a contract, but that doesn't mean there isn't one coming. The team and Rhodes' agent are expected to continue talking, though Rhodes might be visiting other teams in the near future.

how much cap room do the pats have left for this year? i know they or anyone else can trade for moss and redo the contract. i am not sure what the nfl deadlines are for compliance with the cap in the offseason is it once a week or everyday?

I think if Moss ends up in a Patriots uniform he will be happy at first but once he realizes Brady spreads the ball around to everyone not just one guy, he might be a bit disgruntled again. Moss, T.O, Porter and the rest of these guys with pi$$ poor attitudes can pound sand as far as Im concerned. Pay them the league minimum with incentives for running up stats and not their mouth.

    Thumbs down on this one.

better choices exist for the Pats than Moss. He isn't a good fit for the team.

I don't see Moss getting along with Bill Belichick at all, I have a bad feeling about this just as I had with T.O. going to Philly.

On the surface, it sounds great (Moss to the Pats) - he would probably have a monster season. But, his attitude is a major question mark, and Brady would certainly not favor him as much as Moss would like. Plus, Bellichick wouldn't put up with any prima donna nonsense from him.

He's better off with a team where his attitude would fit in.

  • Agreed....the way Bill runs his teams I highly doubt he would welcome Moss. Anyone remember what happened with a good receiver named Mr. Branch

The Packers were reportedly offering Aaron Rodgers for Moss but Oakland wanted a 1st round pick instead.

I'd think a promising young QB with 2 years to learn from Brett Favre would be better than taking a chance in the 1st round.

Trade for Rodgers and draft Calvin Johnson to replace Moss? I'd do it.

I just hope Stallworth does NOT come to New England. I know the Pats were looking into this, Im not a fan of him or Moss. Signing Welker was good but still does not address the fact that we could use a 6 FT + receiver !!
