OT: L.A. Marathon

Did anyone else here run/walk the L.A. Marathon? I completed the event for the fifth time today and it was rewarding as ever; though I'm pretty sore now, and will be more so tomorrow morning.

    I watched it on tv, more to make sure I avoided the route than anything else.
    Congrats on finishing it- that's an incredible accomplishment.

    Congrats. I'm a veteran of two marathons so far. Looking for number 3 later this year! Very fulfilling when you finish...

    I have done one marathon (Nashville) and it was an AWESOME experience. I highly recommend it to everybody. You do NOT have to be in shape... just train 6-8 months and do it!

    Thanks guy. It was a great experience. I will continue to run marathons till my body tells me otherwise. Larryallen73 is right. Anyone can start from scratch and be ready to run a marathon with about 6 months training. Responding to ajw, here is a quick tidbit:

    1. 5K - A nice jog;
    2. 10K - For the semi-serious runner;
    3. 1/2 marathon - For the serious runner;
    4. Marathon - For the serious runner who wants more;
    5. ULTRAMARATHON (NOT unusual to be 100+ miles in length) - Now that is truly insane.

    Try driving 100 miles in L.A., and you'll know how crazy it would be to run/walk 100+ miles. For those interested, I highly recommended the Disneyland 1/2 marathon.

    It will be held on 9.3.07. I ran it last year and part of the race allowed participants to run inside Angels stadium. It was cool to run on the warning tracks and by the dugouts. I even saw my mug shot on the scoreboard. Here's a link to registration for those interested.

    Congrats on adding another successful run to your resume. I did the Phoenix marathon in January and qualified for Boston. I had it all set to go see a Red Sox game Saturday and run the race Monday. Pick up basketball though ended the dream for this year and a back injury. Next year for sure. I am looking more forward to getting to Red Sox game than running the race.

    Wow, that's great. I wish I had that kind of initiative. I did walk out to get the paper this morning though.
  • Nice work....A buddy of mine at work is training for an ultramarathon...runs 15 some odd miles a day...not for the faint of heart.

    Congrats
