Red, did you see this thread? I posted Gary's reply to my PM regarding the late 70s-early 80s rip, too. Nothing coming our way from that, even though 80sJ said it was on the up-and-up. (I posted a link to the original thread in the one I just linked to.)

Pending refunds usually take up to 4 BDA to clear, so you should have your funds by Thursday.

I'm also pleased to hear that at least Gary is coming through with these refund requests. As others have said, I do give him credit for that, as most scammers would have been in the wind without a trace by now.

Pretty lame attempt at restitution actually. He's got about $13,000 to go by my count.

I agree with you in principle. My point was only that I'm surprised he's even made an effort to provide restitution to the members he has thus far.

I agree Grote and I too am happily surprised. I just wish he would pick up the pace.

After all this is a guy with the means to drop 12K at the national right.

Maybe a little more heat is what he needs???

My pending refund for the football rip cleared and is now safely in my bank account. I'll be returning the cards tomorrow without wrappers (I threw them away).

    Return address: Gay Porn Superstore

Post office guys should have fun with that.
  • My pending refund from Gary cleared on Friday, and I shipped the packs back on Saturday.

At a minimum, he has demonstrated enough integrity to follow through with the refunds.

    Thanks Gary.

I don't buy that he dropped $12k for one minute. He was trying to build some credibility and make it look like he would have no need to try and steal a couple hundred dollars. I think many of his posts and the frequency of his posts were simply trying to establish a sens of trust from the people he was targeting to send him money.

I have been gone a while. I don't know what is up.

I can't believe this group rip finally backfired. I am sorry for everyone involved.

Zef204 may have a point. Gary did enough of these group rips to build credibility only to be able to stick it in the end. Its an old technique. I hope you guys get a refund one way or another. It just goes to show that buying vintage wax is super risky unless BBCE, but even that is not 100% (at least you have seller willing to make things right on the spot if things don't turn out well, so I give credit for that).

  • Gary did anwser my 2nd pm in regards to a refund for the late 70's-early 80's rip and asked me why I wanted a refund and when I replied he pm'd back that that rip was good. No refund as of yet.

My football pack rip refund came through, and I just sent all of the the cards back to Gary. The best card I got in the packs was probably a 1979 Walter Payton that should grade an 8 with an outside chance at a 9. I do believe my 1976 pack was resealed. I finally opened it last week, and it had several signs of resealing, IMO, so I was happy for the refund. Most other packs of mine looked perfectly legit (77, 79, 86, 89, etc., though possibly not the 1984 pack). I do hope everyone who got a refund sends their cards back, given all we complained about honesty and ethics here over the last few weeks. I had thrown away my 1985 cards due to serious warping, so I just sent him some other 1985 cards, from a previous set of packs. I'm hapt to have put this episode behind me now...

  • My refund cleared.

Cards will go back to Gary tomorrow, including the 84 Elway RC.

I appreciate him following through with this.

Recouping $155 of the $300+ I spend with Gary rips does make me feel better.

I agree 100%. He was always talking about how much $$ he was spending on product, but most of what he sold on ebay at least consisted of 1989 Fleer & 1986 Topps, and cards with BIN of $10 or less. Some inventory!

  • My football rip refund has gone from Pending to a cleared status. Cards will be returned to Gary today. Thanks for the refund.
  • Received my full refund for the 2 lots of the football rip.
  • My refund has now cleared, I will be mailing cards back on Monday.

I'm not for sure if he done this because it's the right thing to do, or was some legal action put on him and that was the reason?

Whatever the reason was, I'm glad to get my money back on this deal. I had 12 packs of nothing but off centered, dinged up junk.

I PM'd Gary about a refund around last Wednesday, still haven't heard back.
If I don't get one, I have all the packs from the football rip that can be used as evidence if anyone starts a class action lawsuit against him.

    Hi,

For those of you who received a refund from the football rip, how did you contact Gary? I sent an email to the same email address I used for PayPal and haven't heard back. Does PM'ing work?

    Thanks,

    Tom
  • I sent him a PM through this board
