Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you..

I made a reference to Camelot.

I know it's a bit flowery but for a very brief moment in time - it was Camelot.

From the extensive Heritage bust reports, retail sightings and trading - to the childlike excitement of picking up some wax reminiscent of our past.

We post our latest acquisitions with the pride and excitement of a new father holding their child for the first time.

When this is over and Gary is a faint memory - tho remembered like a hurricane disaster - I would like us to reflect on what we do have...

A core of really great people who have the love of collecting, who lust after knowledge and demonstrate a passion for cards and memorabilia.

This is who we are.

    Mike,

there are enough good ones here to put one big time schmuck behind us eventually.. It is a shame that this is going on just as the Heritage excitement is starting.

An intelligent commentary as always Mike.

  • nicely put, Mike. Although I didn't participate in this case break, I can empathize with those who did. If it is any consolation, the investigative work done by many of those posting on the various threads related to this unfortunate incident was exceptional, and I think will help further the knowledge of the hobby for those who have studied the posts carefully. I learned a ton about a very important topic. Thanks. For those of you who need it, image

    As WolfBear said:

<< <i>Seems as though some positives are coming out of all this.

The honest guys have let it be known to all that we won't stand for crap like this,
so future cheaters are now on notice to make dam sure they're one hell of a lot smarter than Gary.

Some folks including myself are out some dough, but other than that,
it's been gratifying to see everyone come together to out a scammer and subject him to a public flogging.

All in all, not a bad week for the hobby at all. Indeed, a rather good one ... >>

  • Mike, exactly.

And for anyone who would like a well-needed injection of hobby joy give Elemenopeo's TTM thread a read. If you read that and don't remember what this hobby is all about then I'm not sure anything can help you discover it.

Now would somebody please put a high-grade Dempsey with a low starting bid up on ebay in the Gardening category for me? image
