Chrissy and Jeff destined to be BFF. I see new tattoos in their future.
After hearing the news Plummer is on a plane to South America trying to distance himself from the happy couple.

GARCIA SIGNS WITH BUCS
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed quarterback Jeff Garcia.
The official announcement will be made at a 1:00 p.m. EST press conference.
It's believed that Garcia was looking for a contract worth $5 million per year. But Schefter reports that Garcia is getting the same deal that Chris Simms received.
Sounds like an open competition to us.

Hate to see him go - he did a nice job for the Eagles. But now that he's a Buc - he's the enemy!
But he's not the answer to the Bucs QB problems. For the Bucs it's a bad signing for the money paid - another mistake from a mistake filled franchise.
Jonboy Gruden will, without a doubt, be the first NFL head coach fired this upcoming season. Looks like a lot more woodshed sessions this fall for Joey Stalin. Ha! Ha!

Thanks

Brad Johnson

GARCIA ASKED RAIDERS NOT TO DRAFT QUARTERBACK
We threw it out there last night as a possible explanation for the impasse between the Raiders and free-agent quarterback Jeff Garcia. And we've now learned that, for a change, our closed-eyed wing-and-a-pray guess was on the mark.
We're told that quarterback Jeff Garcia didn't sign with the Raiders for one reason and one reason only -- the team would not give him an assurance that a quarterback would not be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft.
It's really not an unreasonable request. Who would ever want to be the lame duck starting quarterback? If the Raiders were to struggle to start the season, the denizens of the Black Hole soon would have been chanting for the other guy.
It's also our understanding that the money in Oakland was equal to the money that Garcia is getting from the Bucs. We're told that Garcia will make $5 million in 2007, and that the total value over two years could be as much as $14.5 million, based on Garcia being the starter and the team making the playoffs.
For now, though, it's an open competition between Simms and Garcia, especially since the base value of their deals is identical. Indeed, we're told that Garcia has not been promised the starting job.
Of course, if he ends up being starter, his situation won't be much different in Tampa than it would have been in Oakland. The backup quarterback (as Garcia learned in Philly) is often the most popular guy in town.
<< <i>Perhaps Garcia signed with the Bucs because he thinks Jon Gruden is handsome? LOL >>

Bottom line - Garcia was a good fit with the Eagles. He is not a good fit for the Bucs. Bringing in a veteran quarterback in the right situation can be a good fit for a team in certain circumstances. This is not the right set of circumstances for the Bucs, and not the right veteran quarterback for the job that needs to be done there.
This is an easy call - Bucs will win a maximum of 4 games, possibly less, this upcoming season - Even if they find a kicker who can consistently make 62 yard field goals.
The Bucs implosion continues and Joey gets to spend a lot of time under his bed during the upcoming NFL season.

March 3, 2007
In a bizarre twist on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended up with two veteran quarterbacks they had been pursuing this offseason.
Tampa Bay signed quarterback Jeff Garcia to a two-year deal, getting the veteran quarterback the team wanted badly heading into next season. But the Buccaneers also completed a trade for the Denver Broncos' Jake Plummer, a day after it appeared that Plummer had squashed the deal by retiring.
While the Bucs were announcing the signing of Garcia, who received a deal loaded with incentives, the Broncos announced the trade of Plummer. The Broncos get a conditional draft pick in 2008 that is likely contingent on whether Plummer plays.
Plummer reportedly declared his intentions to retire Friday after news leaked that the Broncos had dealt him to the Bucs for a fourth-round pick in this year's NFL draft. That temporarily scuttled the deal. However, the Broncos continued to make the deal and it's believed that part of the reason was purely out of spite.
The relationship between Plummer and Denver head coach Mike Shanahan deteriorated quickly last season after the Broncos spent a first-round draft pick on Jay Cutler and then replaced Plummer with the rookie in November.
Plummer's biggest private complaint about Shanahan came on the weekend after Denver had played on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day. That Sunday, Shanahan made the decision to switch quarterbacks, but didn't call Plummer directly. Instead, Shanahan had an assistant coach call Plummer, two sources close to Plummer said.
Plummer's pending retirement obviously creates a number of issues. That includes the possible repayment of bonus money. There has been speculation that Plummer might reconsider retirement if he could play for a team of his choice, such as the Houston Texans whose head coach, Gary Kubiak, is Plummer's former coordinator. However, one source close to him said last night he didn't think that would happen.
"I really think Jake is done," the source said.
The Bucs could eventually cut Plummer or put him on the reserve/retired list to save the money against the salary cap.
As for Garcia, he will receive a deal almost exactly the same as the one that Chris Simms agreed to last season. The deal will pay Garcia $5 million in the first year and could be worth as much as $14.5 million if Garcia is the starter both years and takes the Buccaneers to the playoffs each season.
Garcia flew to Tampa, Fla., on Friday night and the Buccaneers held a press conference Saturday afternoon to announce the signing.
Garcia, from Gilroy, Calif., and a product of San Jose State, spent Friday meeting with the Oakland Raiders. Although Garcia was said to have been impressed by the Raiders coaches, there were still significant questions about the team's management and ability to produce an immediate contender. The Raiders went 2-14 last season, scored the fewest points (168) in the league and have won just 15 games in the past four seasons. In addition, the Raiders have the No. 1 overall pick and are in position to take one of the top young quarterbacks in the draft, either JaMarcus Russell of LSU or Brady Quinn of Notre Dame.
Garcia helped Philadelphia reach the NFC divisional playoffs and nearly led the Eagles to an upset of the New Orleans Saints in that game. Garcia, 37, took over when Donovan McNabb was knocked out for the season with a knee injury and rallied the Eagles after they dropped to 5-6.
This was the second time the Bucs made a push to acquire Garcia. In 2004, Garcia was reportedly on the verge of joining Tampa Bay before signing with the Cleveland Browns.
Garcia finished last season with 10 touchdowns, two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 95.8. In the previous two seasons with the Browns and the Detroit Lions, Garcia combined for 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions and never had a rating of more than 76.7.
To think that that game back in 79 might of been the Eagles best chance, but if you can't stop Ricky Bell, who can you stop?
JS
<< <i>Garcia will be as effective in Tampa Bay as he was with the Brown's, maybe not even that good. The YUCS have got more problems than QB, their line is awful and their Receivers just plain stink. Oh and the Defense is a shell of its former self. >>
Gruden does not and will not use a shotgun QB set.
When you have a porous O line this spells trouble. When Simms uses to a three step drop he can't get it over the D linemen.

That line holds much more value in Tampa than Philly Joey. Especially with the downfall of the Sucs. Philly will gladly lose to the Smelly Pirate Hookers then march to the playoffs every year. But hey we can't blame you for capitalizing on the last semi positive achievement of the Sucs, or maybe that would be the last minute "Pittsburgh Boot of Shame" against the Steelers in '06.

Garcia was let go by Reid because Donovan felt threatened. Anyone who thinks otherwise is blind. He was the only good thing the Eagles had going for them last year, and the sole reason the Eagles made the playoffs.
Garcia is not the long term solution, but a good patch until either Simms figures out the game, or they draft someone better.
<< <i>Hilarious.

Reid made it perfectly clear, couldn't be clearer, that Donovan "obviously" would be the starter when he returned. Why wouldn't he be? He was having a Pro Bowl season when he went down.
That being said...McNabb is injury prone and having Feeley as the #2 is a concern. Of course Feeley played well before with the Eagles and is certainly capable of doing it again...I think. Feeley no question will get a ton of playing time in the preseason games.
By the way...the Bucs are staring head first into a 3-13 season...no doubt about it. Garcia won't really help them - a sheer desperation move that can't possibly work. Perhaps 2-14?
Glad Im not a YUCS fan
It's easy: Donovan told Reid in no uncertain terms that it was either him or Garcia, that the Eagles couldn't have both. What other rational explanation could there be?
As far as Garcia flopping in Tampa, while he flourished in Philly, where's your explanation for that? Other than blind hate for a team who's only a year removed from an 11-5 record? It's not as if Reid is well known for being a good playcaller, nor for developing QBs, while Gruden has a long history of turning veteran QB's into winners and Pro-Bowlers (Brad Johnson anyone? What about Rich Gannon?)
No one can say for certain what will happen, but Garcia to Tampa is going to be among the biggest free agency signings of the season.
<< <i>I gotta say it again, Garcia will flop harder with the Yucs than he did with Cleveland.

Me to! The Bucs had an extremely lucky run during their Super Bowl season - a team that really was Tony Dungy's team. Gruden was just along for the ride. The Bucs before and since are a pathetic franchise. Nobody hates the Bucs - you can't hate a loser like they are...it's just plain outright enjoyable to make fun of them because they are such a badly run team. And it seems to be getting worse for them.
We all can't be blessed and be fans of great teams and franchises such as the Philadelphia Eagles. Some teams have to be the perennial doormats and the Bucs are one of those teams, and will always be one of those teams. Sort of similar for example to the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball. Can it be imagined anyone being a Bucs fan AND a Mariners fan? Couldn't be possible! Could it?

Do you always drink before posting? Perhaps you failed to realize that using your flawed logic, that it would have been GRUDEN'S raiders that went to the superbowl that year, no? Or is it the sting of the Bucs owning the Eagles recently? I guess when the Vet got shut down by the Bucs, and the Linc had its grand opening upstaged by another Bucs beatdown, that you'd be bitter too.
Want to talk poorly run? How about a franchise that's never WON a super bowl? Don't give me that NFL championship crapola, it's not a super bowl ring. How about a team letting go of a QB who took them to 6 straight wins and was the only reason they went to the playoffs? All in the name of keeping a prima donna QB who's had serious injuries 3 of the last 5 years?
What's it like to have a soup eatin momma's boy as your QB?

The Eagles manhandled the lowly Bucs that whole game in every stat category. It was domination, admittedly except for the final score in which the Bucs needed a "miracle" field goal to get the win. The Bucs weren't good - just plain lucky.
Better get used to a 3 - 13 Bucs season - it's coming. Gruden will get fired and maybe the Eagles will hire him back as part of the grounds maintenance crew.

I agree with you that in Reid's consideration of the situation with Garcia, it was considered how McNabb would view everything. Many quarterbacks in the NFL, even great ones in NFL history, are prima-donnas to a degree. But there really was no quarterback controversy in Philly.
! actually wouldn't have minded it if the Eagles went in a different direction, kept Garcia for a year or two, made a trade with McNabb for the #1 or #2 draft pick, and picked a quarterback....but the decision has been made to stick with McNabb so I'm going to support that decision - which in no way can be viewed as a wrong decision. Again...McNabb was having a Pro Bowl season when he went down.
Bottom line and I don't expect losing Bucs fans to understand this...Proper salary cap management is a proven formula for success in today's NFL and the Eagles do that as well if not better than any other NFL team. The Pats come to mind as doing it equally as well. Garcia is not worth that kind of money as a backup quarterback - period - case closed. For lesser money, the Eagles would have probably kept him, but giving some of that money to Feeley was a better option for a backup quarterback, and after all...Feeley also has had success with the Eagles.

First off I dont blindley hate the YUCS, And I am NOT an Eagles fan by any stretch.
Secondly, whats my explanation for Garcia flourishing in Philly and not in Tampa? Here are a few reasons Tampa bay has an awful Offensive line, Philly has a great line, Philly has a much better TE, Tampa Bay's best weapon is a 34 + year old WR
Kind of the same recipe that caused Garcia to be run out of town on a rail like he was in Detroit and Cleveland.
It is obvious Garcia is not the answer to a team like Tampa Bay or any team that is in shambles. Your talking about a Playoff team like Philly vs a horrible team like the Yucs
If you're such a great predictor of what will happen, what are you doing posting on a message board? Why aren't you making millions betting on games? You're saying Garcia was successful in Philly because of a better TE? Are you serious, or just desperately grasping at straws here? Really, that's your reasoning?
/sigh
Garcia will do fine...Galloway, Clayton, and potentially Calvin Johnson will all make good targets. Yet the resident board 'gurus' who would prefer to take digs at people instead of looking at the facts of the situation will always be talking (usually out of their arses).

Maybe you did not medicate yourself this morning, but just incase you did and did not read my whole thread I listed the TE position as ONE reason not THE REASON so, please stop on the "if your such a great predictor" stuff, it makes you sound too sassy. I dont think I said anything that was not FACT either right? The YUCS line is awful and they do not have dependable receivers,( Calvin Johnson has not been drafted yet incase you did not know) This is a sports message board and points do get argued occasionally if you cant handle occasional "digs" go back to playing nintendo.
Bottom line here I say the YUCS will continue to be a bad team and Garcia, and (sorry) Galloway and Clayton will not be the answer.
As I've said repeatedly, it's apparent you've decided which parts of Bucs history you want to remember. You want to forget that they are just a year removed from winning the NFC south and going 11-5 to the playoffs, yet want to remember how terrible last year was.
Oh well.
