Rick Ankiel

Just noticed his name in the Cards/Mets game as a pinch hitter. Does he have a shot at making the team?

No? Wasnt he talked about being converted to an outfielder because of his hitting abilities and his arm could no longer handle the pitching stress?

I havent followed up on him in quite some time but he was scouted as an OF as well as a pitcher.
  • hope he got his arm straighten out.image

Looks like he will be starting in the OF in AAA Memphis this year. During the spring game day before last he had 2 RBI singles. I dont think we have seen the last of him yet...only as a pitcher. He's 27 and maybe had a good 10 years in him to be an effective player in the majors.

I agree, it was sad seeing how his pitching career turned out. He was brought up MUCH too early being brought into the majors at 19 years old.

    I wish him the best!
