Check out Item number: 270092814394. I couldn't believe the final hammer price! Almost $4,500 for a Lambert rookie. Someone at least tell me it is 1/1. I stopped watching the card at $1,400 and was shocked where it ended up. It is a shame that none of the box break guys pulled a bad boy like this!

What a great looking card!
There are some 1970's football cards getting serious action listed by PWCC.

<< <i>I'm not really following why everyone is so surprised. It's jack freaking lambert! He was such a bad ass on the field! He's there with Butkus. And it's a legendary player on the steel curtain. I would guess the steelers get more love from collectors than just about any team because of their popularity. And really pop 3 is nothing compared to the number of steeler collectors out there and on the registry >>
+1 although I would add the Cowboys as nearly equal love from collectors. The guy I was getting a lot of singles from to wrap up my 70s sets always complained about how difficult they were to keep in stock, even the commons from those two teams and charged a premium for both.
ETA: I think the card's a pop 10 now, the pop 3 post was from several years ago.

I just bumped an old thread. No need to start a new one.
As Larkincollector pointed out it is a Pop 10 now.
Obviously the market for many cards is much different then seven years ago. As strong as so many prices have been any marquee rookie seems to have busted out of prior ranges.
I checked the SMR and they have it at $1,700. What is interesting is to see the jump in the Payton year over year. The liner notes have one at $8,365 in 2013 and the next at $13,854 in 2014.
Take a look at the high bidder on the Lambert card. Is he a shill? I went to Brent's auctions sorted by highest price and clicked on all those (maybe 8-10 or so) $2,000-$10,000 low pop Football cards. He is the high bidder or the second bidder who pushed the card up substantially on almost everyone. This guy might win $100,000 in cards in the next night or two.
2/14/14 ... eBay........ Best Offer......... $1,750.00
11/13/13...eBay............... $1,525.00

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
