Lovie Smith goes from lowest paid NFL coach to one of the highest paid

The "misers of the midway" shed that image yesterday in coming to an agreement with Lovie Smith on
a new 4 year contract extension through the 2011 season. Lovie goes from the lowest paid NFL coach
at $1.35 million a year to approx. $4.7 million a year. General manager Jerry Angelo also signed to be
with the team through the 2013 season.

Well, I guess it's time to hit my boss up for a 3 mil raise.

Good for the Bears. They needed to make this deal.

Good for Smith, give the Bears some offensive guys and they might be able to bring the Super Bowl trophy in.
  • When are teams going to learn that it's not the coach that wins games, it's the players on the field. Put a great team together and plug Pee Wee Herman in as coach and you'll win. They'll be kicking themselves for the next four years when they finish third in the NFC North behind the Packers and Vikings. Don't waste big money on coaches!
  • With Thomas Jones on the way out and the QB position fluid....how good will the Bears be next season???
