Pre-war special....will this never happen? Not enough people care???

Every month it is special after special for modern....or 1950'-1970's or so it seems. Where is the pre-war specials??? Why won't PSA try one? I know for a fact quite a few guys holding on to tobacco cards that just don't want to pay $13 a card (or more in some cases).....why not one month have a $5 special for us collectors??? We need a break too! Anybody else even for this?image

  • AMEN!!!!

I've got stacks and stacks of stuff just waiting to go. Some of it is quite valuable but since I'm not concerned with flipping it (it's all just for my personal collection) I can't see the point in not waiting for a special. I realize that there are a great deal of set collectors who have enormous amounts of "commons" from '67-'72 that they're happy to be able to now submit (and I'm happy for them) but what is the huge difference between this current March special and the February special?

Anyone remember the last time PSA had a pre-war special? Have they ever had one before? Thanks

    Arthur
  • I would suspect they feel like the pre-war collectors have deeper pockets and since the cards are, on average, more costly, the relative cost is comparable or better even at the steep grading rates. But, a special now and then certainly would not hurt. I think it would give them a significant pop on submissions.

SGC has prewar specials all the time.

Just meant to show that their competitor has seen that PSA doesn't have pre war specials and they are looking to fill the void.
  • Just gets a little old month after month. I've considered putting some of my T206's in sgc slabs. I'm not asking for much...one special! image

Come on Joe....respond to the thread....image
  • sgc is a viable alt. to psa for pre-war. very common from what I can see. but I have a tough time buying cards I can't add to my set reg.
