Why 2006 Proof Platinum ?

Does the Mint intend to deplet its inventory of 2006 Proof Platinum before the introduction of the 2007 Proof Plats - the Mint is still selling the 2006 PR Plats?

I think it is good for the series. Considering how much attention was placed on the 20th anniversary and the new UNC-W Plat, the proofs managed to sell a good number. While expensive it is one of the great commemorative series because the reverse changes each year.
Not true

Eric,
The Mint website says the quantity minted for the 4-coin set is 10,000 and they're sold out.
How does that translate to 5,500 sets sold?
They are authorized to 10K, but they mint based on previously reported Monthly sales, which were slower than expected (Can't imagine why).
So they minted about 5,500 sets and sold them out.
I agree.

I think the mint determined that it was not economically feasible to schedule another run of these, so they sold out whatever inventory they had in stock and are focusing on new issues.
