If you want to have an EDS or LDS designation included even for TOP 100 or HOT 50 VAM's, PCGS's Mint Error service is the only way to receive it, and it's only worth the added cost if the die stage attribution commands a premium to VAM specialists Maybe someday the Mint Error coins that relate to Morgan or Peace VAM die stages will be included in a PCGS census, but not likely to happen unless they approve a Registry set collection for the aforementioned.

Yep, anything very early die state PCGS will only put in "mint error" slabs.... Had a 23 1C salbbed the same way.
