The Mint holds Refunds until you call.

I got the acknowledgement of the returns back in early January. I even got partial credits on items under $200. They were holding 10K for a month.

I call, 'what the hell is going on?' "Oh, Sorry, we were holding it until you confirmed the return" I said , I sent it back Reg Mail, you guys agreed with the return, it's posted on the site under my orders, what's the big deal? Policy sir.....

Absolute BS! Any of you guys who order and send back (ah..cherry pick?), watch out!

Oh well that's not too bad a price to pay, I suppose to be able to order and send back image

I have recently returned almost 1K worth and it was automatically refunded. All I did was send it back with the form and then 3 weeks later my card was credited.

I've never had to confirm a return to get a refund. I wonder whats up?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • Same experience, I had to call and ask what was happening before I got a check in the mail. Also took over a month after they signed that they had received my check before the order appeared on my account. By that time some of the coins were no longer available ....thats why I needed a refund.....got it 3 months later
    Buy the dips!!!

  • Another cherry pik type of person was ticked that they didn't credit for all the items he put in the box.

The return policy obviously isn't risk free.

That's kind of how I read it....I didn't have any sympathy reading it.

As a COLLECTOR, when I sent back for a refund, it took a few weeks but I didn't have to call. I got it. Of course, I have only returned problem coins twice. I don't buy a ton and cherrypick.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I had to call 3X and it took 4 mos. for them to process a 7K refund. Each time I was put on hold and they came back and said, it will be 7-10 days. By the third time, I was sure they call center rep. wasn't talking to anybody about my return...they were just putting me on hold so I thought they were talking to someone, before coming back to tell me, it will be 7-10 days. IMO, the Mint's processing of returns is the absolute worst part of their customer service record.

    Not looking for any sympathy!

I was just pointing out the tactics of the 'Game the Mint plays' against the 'Game some of us play'.

This is exactly what they did with me. I had 10K outstanding, now it is 6K.

In my first call yesterday, the Rep handed me off to Supervisor Roy without my asking. Roy immediately cleared my (5) Buffalo returns and started to end the call. He knew I had others because I told him. Then he asked for the rest of the order numbers, put me on hold again and came back quick. Gave me the party line "it will be 7-10 days". I knew he did nothing when after we hung up I received only one email from the Mint 5 minutes later stating they had released the 4K funds from the Buffalo return.

Now that I know the "Game", rule , these guys are going to get hounded every day for me now, for this tactic until I get paid. image

My feeling is that if you have a return policy that states "for any reason" honor it! Otherwise change the policy! They act like your squeezing them for Mint money! They got the coins back, they should pay up! This is like a no-pay Ebayer!

Yep, had the same thing with my $330 refund, but it showed up 3 days later after I called. Had a couple of refunds earlier last year, didn't have to do anything. Not a good policy to keep customers happy.

My returns have always been credited quite promptly, which in comparison is the exact reverse of how they ship my orders.
    Many happy BST transactions

This is almost exactly what happened to me when I returned a gold set.
Took a full month to get my CC refunded.

Basically, you gotta voice your displeasure over the phone to them
and then they'll act. I got kinda pissy on the phone with one of their
"senior" reps and they gave me my refund about three days later.

    UPDATE:

I was right, the Mint guy blew me off yesterday on the other credits.

I called this morning to Supervisor Rob who released the other $6K holds.

I just got the emails notifying me of this 15 minutes after we hung up.

Until you get that Mint email with "Credit Ack. - Order #XXXXXXXX" in the subject line, you will NOT get any refund released to your credit card.
