Whatever happened to the Pacific Trading Card company? Did they go under or get bought out? If so, when and by whom?

ARLINGTON, TEXAS (October 4, 2004) – Texas-based Donruss Trading Cards, a leading manufacturer of Major League Baseball and Football trading cards, today announced the acquisition of the names and brands of Pacific Trading Cards, Inc.
The agreement will help further the long-term goals and vision for Donruss Playoff and allow the Pacific name and all trademarks to continue to make and impact in the hobby.

“We are very excited to add the brand names and the Pacific history,” said Donruss Director of Product Development Rob Springs. “Though we have no immediate plans for the Pacific names, we will plan to incorporate them into our branding family in the future.”

The long-standing relationship between both Mike Cramer, former owner of Pacific Trading Cards, Inc.

and Ann Powell, owner of Donruss Playoff, LP enabled the transition to be seamless. They have been, and continue to be, great friends.
Pacific Trading Cards, Inc. had produced cards for three of the four major sports in its history, but the most significant impact the company had was in the production of NHL cards.

There were also some silver and gold bordered inserts as well. Not sure what the production run was on them, but I remember in 1991 or 92 selling the silvers for $25 each and the one gold I had sold for $100.
