average circulated mercury dimes? How about average circulated walkers? I was thinking of bidding in a closed bid auction for these and want a reasonable chance of winning but don't want to overpay. I'm more interested in the Mercury dimes as that is what my daughter is collecting now and she will love going through the roll looking for ones that will match her set. Obviously I have no idea, which is why I'm asking for your wisdom.

if i had to take a somewhat educated guess i'd say around $ 50 for the roll of dimes.

around 10x face. possible a small premium for the walkers, but you should be able to get them around 10x face plus or minus depending on what silver's doing.

For an average circulated roll, and spot silver at 14.38, the melt value is $52.00. A price of $50.00, slightly discounted below spot, would not be an unreasonable bid. To assure a win, you might have to be a little bit more aggessive, but not much.

Back in September 2005 silver was in the $7 range, or $26 melt per roll. That was 18 months ago, though in terms of price it seems far, far away.
