1952 Topps (w/scans) - Guess The Grade! - Grades Popped - **Ebay Listed**

Fellow collectors, if you get a chance, I would like you to give me your honest opinion about what kind of grades you think these (14) cards would pull. Above every photo, I give my honest opinion about the condition of each card and what kind of grade I think they would get. I’m going to submit all of these cards at the end of this week.
I always love reading these kinds of posts, so I figured I would start one of my own. Thank you for your time!

<< <i>nice cards - i think the ray boone might be factory miscut. it looks larger on the top left side. >>
I noticed that too, the right corner does the same thing. Strange...
Seeking primarily PSA graded pre-war "type" cards
My PSA Registry Sets
34 Goudey, 75 Topps Mini, Hall of Fame Complete Set, 1985 Topps Tiffany, Hall of Fame Players Complete Set
6, 5 (maybe trimmed), 6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, trimmed, trimmed, 6, 6, 6, 7. They're beautiful cards but I think you may be overgrading them a bit. Theoretically, PSA grades all cards equally regardless of the year. Even with a little leeway, I don't see a card with 4 slightly frayed corners getting a 7.

<< <i>I'm not sure how many are trimmed, but I think at least a few are. here is how I'd grade them based on the scans and assuming no creases/surface wrinkles:

Thank you for your honesty, I do appreicate it! I really don't believe any of these are trimmed. That was the very first thing I checked for when I received them. I measured each card with a machinist scale (to the 1/64) and they are all dead-on-balls 2-5/8" x 3-3/4".
I do agree with you about the grading though, I was reallllly trying not to be bias, but it so hard not to be! lol Thank you.

is dead-on-balls a technical term??
<< <i>is dead-on-balls a technical term??
No, but it should be! I can see it now... PSA 6 with a (DOB) qualifier
keep us updated as to the grades you receive.
<< <i>it is rather difficult for us to grade the cards just from looking at scans. its easier in person so you should have a better idea than us. >>
I understand, I tried to give the best scans that I could, within reason. I just thought it would be interesting to compare our thoughts with PSA "official" grades. Like I said, I always enjoy seeing other pre-sub and post-sub results, so I thought I would add to the flavor. We'll see!
You've got some really nice cards.
Did you use a 10X loupe?
To start with the Fain - if the upper left corner is really fuzzy - IMO, it's got a shot at a 7 - but definitely a nice 6.
On the cards that Lee saw as trimmed? Without measurement - that's how I saw them also.
Anyway - good luck - please let us know how the sub goes.
So - where did you pick these gems up?
Thanx for sharing
mike

No loupe, just some good light and 30 year old eyes.
I got the from our favorite, ebay... took a chance, and BIG chance. I had some F-U money laying around and thought it would be fun to handle some 1952 Topps cards. My intent was to buy them, grade them, and sell them. Kind of an experiment. I won't be heart-broken if I don't make my money back (spent $21 per card average). This is the fun part of the hobby, I'm not in it to make money, but that IS a nice part about our hobby. It's enjoyable to me.
<< <i>I actually just lost it for a minute reading that. It's been awhile since that is happened.
What's the joke? I'm guessing if I don't know the joke, that means I'M the joke. That's cool...
I listed 14 cards in this thread, but I only sent in 12 of them. Anyway, I'm happy, and I was pretty close with my original guesses.

<< <i>Definetly in the 5 or 6 catagory for sure with a couple possible trims.Nice cards for sure. >>
Good job on the grades, Jeff. Are they for your collection or selling?
<< <i>Good job on the grades, Jeff. Are they for your collection or selling? >>
Selling, I'm planning on posting them on ebay as soon as they arrive. It was it be a fun experiment to check out some cards from the hobby's coolest set (IMO), and I wanted to see if I can get them graded and make a little money at the same time. I was hoping for one 7, so I'm ecstatic I got two!
