    Where the heck is the date? If it's the marks in the center of the reverse,
    you'll have to tell me what they are because I can't see them in
    the pictures.

    Look at the large letters in the obverse legend. They comprise the date, in Roman Numerals.

    BTW, WRONG FORUM! image

    Oh I know you know....just that it might be of interest to others. This following answer given by another forum member on the darkside.

    image 1703. ... Latin legend, Give us Peace, Oh Benign Christ incorporates a chronogram date

    I see the MDCCIII incorporated in the legend, but I don't understand how we are to know the order of the digits of the date. Can somebody explain this? >>

    Probably doesn't matter so long as the total adds up.... CMDICII = MDCCIII (regardless,in practice, Roman numerals are listed in decending order of value.... so just take the symbols and arrange them that way........

    C= 100 M=1000
    M=1000 D= 500
    D= 500 C= 100
    I= 1 C= 100
    C= 100 I= 1
    I= 1 I= 1
    I= 1 I= 1

    1703 1703

    I find it hard to believe that any lightside collector can not appriciate a darkside coin every now and then, after all most are cheaper, many are older, and most are obtainable... then again where is the adventure in that...

    Well, if you collect because you enjoy history, then any coin has history, even the church hill image

    Thanks for sharing,

    I think it is a 1702, not 1703.

    There are only two I's, not three of them.

    The II with the roof and floor closed in (that was a hint) does not infer a Roman numeral.

    What do you think such II represents on this coin?

    I have my thoughts on this but I insist it is not numeric. It has a much more important meaning and message!

    Any darkside coin with the Eliasberg provenance is NEVER OT here! image

    Oreville - I'm confused. Where is the "II"?

    MrEureka: The II is in the middle of the last word on the obverse at 3:00.

    Note that the construction of that symbol is different than the two separate I in that the center of the symbol is not filled in to make it a pure I but instead two separate II joined together! but with a full floor and a full roof connecting them.

    That is not a I nor a double II in the context of this coin. It is the kingdom of God in which Christ now resides as per the symbolic representation of this coin.

    Well, I do see that the third "I" is different than the first two, but I'm still unconvinced. We need an expert to chime in.

    Yes I believe it is the total of those Roman Numeral letters when added up (CMDICII = 1703).

    Okay, I went to this conversion page: Roman Numeral converter
    and entered the number and it says 1503. Your coin might be 200 years older than thought.

    BTW - thanks for the chronogram lesson. Hadn't seen one of those before...

    So the Roman numeral converter doesn't work correctly?
