Question on '54 Topps cards

I've been looking for a PSA 7 Aaron for my Milwaukee Braves collection and I saw these 2 current offerings on Ebay. I've been trying to get a feel for what to expect in this grade, but with all the rough cuts I've been seeing its been making my "homework" difficult. Do rough cuts have any effect on the grade? Obviously, the strength corners play a major part in the grade of a card, so how does PSA grade a example where the rough cut keeps the corner from being square? Are these 2 fair examples of 7's? Sorry for all the questions, but filling this hole in my collection has required a lot of saving and I just want to be sure I'm making an informed decision.

I really dont think PSA knocks down the grades on the rough cuts. Sometimes if the cut is really rough and gets into the corners they might. I personally like the true unaltered look of the rough cut cards. The 1st example is centered really well but look at all the white on the back corners. It almost looks like the rough edge stops near the bottom left corner? Too many questions for a $1200 card.

  • The first card has been to the barber, the second id way over priced for a card that should have the dreaded OC qualifier.image

So if I'm following you guys, these 2 examples would be considered low end 7s?
