  • You are asking too much. The going rate for an AU50 is between $800 and $950. The PCGS price that you quote is for an AU55.

Interesting. I saw a PCGS AU58 at my local shop mid-last year and it was priced around $2500 as I recall. An AU50 at half that amount doesn't seem outlandish. In any case, I'm no expert on the pricing of these.

But if this AU50 is more like an EF45+, that's a world of difference.

    Nocerino18...

I took your advise and checked eBay, I think your prices on eBay are too high...

    Take this 1892-CC MS65 you have listed @ $7500.00...

Click here to view 1892-CC MS65 on eBay...

Another seller had it up last week and it only bid up to $6800...

Click Here to see same 1892-CC listed last week on eBay by another seller...

Plus your using the same photos, what's up with that...?

Maybe you guys should use the PM Function instead of trashing someone FS thread with your "spoon"...

    Currently Listed: Nothing

  • I would never reference Ebay as a place to price coins. There are so many people who over state coins that when someone actually lists as stated people sit on the fences and Ebay becomes a wholesale market if any thing and only if the coin is graded by a service will it ever achieve anything near the true value of most honestly listed coins. Just my two cents worth.

I hardly ever list without a price stated that I will take as a minimum offer which 90 plus percent of the time is the price of the coin if bid on at all.

Actually, I think the price you are asking is fine. It is a nice looking coin. Good luck on the sale.

Roadrunner: You missed a monster bargain. Here are the four PCGS-58 examples I have sales records for:

    1888-O 4 58 PCGS Dec-06 TT $8,064
    1888-O 4 58 PCGS Apr-06 PP $12,000
    1888-O 4 58 PCGS Mar-06 PP $12,000
    1888-O 4 58 PCGS Jan-05 H $8,912

(TT is Teletrade, PP is private party [I know the guy who sold both of them], and H is Heritage).
    When in doubt, don't.

No, it says right there on the holder that it's an AU50.

Your opinion is that it's an XF45.
    When in doubt, don't.

.and you are an expert whose word is gospel? image ...I suppose you stopped by and offered this 'opinon' while you were on break from your job at one of the top grading services as their senior grader??? image

It looks more AU50ish to me than XF45. I've got an XF45 that boarders AU50 and this coin is well beyond my coin.

Stick to your $1100 mark on this one Steve. I sold a raw AU-55(my grade) in 2005 on the Bay for $1500. And the prices on these damn sure hasn't gone south.

Ok, my chance to respond back a little. Mr. Stoner, I actually think your AU50 example is a nice one, and $1100 is a much more reasonable and realistic price. I believe if I remember correctly the original price was $1500 which was much more than the going rate. I wasn't bashing you or your coin I was just agreeing with a prior members comment and showing a comparable.

Now as for the 1892-CC S$1 PCGS MS65. My business partner had listed it under his account and it was bid up to $6800. I as half owner of the coin decided that listing the coin with a reserve was not the correct way to list it, and so I listed it at a fixed price of $7,500. This in fact turned out to be the correct avenue to sell the coin because one of our regular customers saw the coin listed on ebay and came into the shop to check it out in person, and needless to say the coin is no longer available for sale.
