say what you will, but they are very high quality coins, I have a 5oz Proof , and its just a stellar coin , it has the pre-amble to the consitution micro lettered around the inner rim .....
If you get on their mailing list, it's a pretty good read IMO. One of the best stories I read was about people explaining silver coins to others by dropping them on the table and letting everyone hear the sound they made. So there are people trying to treat these like circulating coins, not just collector pieces in AirTites.
The feds stepped in ... as in the U.S. Mint, who issued a press release saying that they couldn't use the word "dollar" or the "dollar symbol" on their silver pieces. Bernard von NotHaus, previously of the Royal Hawaiian and NORFED founder, was ready to retire his position by that time anyway, so they gave in instead of fighting and have taken all the politics (the NORFED aspect) out of their product.
As an aside -- I am looking for a specimen of the prototype design that von NotHaus submitted to the Treasury Dept. in 1998 for consideration in creating the then-coming new dollar coin -- what turned out to be the Sacagawea. If anyone has a lead on something like that, please let me know.
