This is a very worthwhile goal. Good luck with it!
Will this this effort include slabs of all worlds that have inserts considered misleading by the US Government/Mint? >>
I trying to convince them to include special icons tags next to the titles and on the item pages to indicate that the listing was certified by a reputable grading service to help collectors determine which are the true grading service holders and which ones are the crap they should stay away from.
I've been speaking with our account rep and I've put in my request to begin a board of coin experts to have higher power than just reporting a bad auction and handling reports of counterfeits and coin scammers in the U.S. Coins category.

I think eBay will lose some of its "we are only a venue" excuse if they start policing like this. Could be wrong, but it seems that way to me.

I don't know. If they just "promote" by adding an icon or something to PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG coins then they aren't really policing anything...technically.

Call eBay and tell them that you have had enough of all of the crap that's in the coins category and that you will increase your spending there once you feel confident enough to shop there again.

good luck Brandon, i hope you're successful!
did anyone read that email thread with Scott Travers and a top Ebay lawyer in his 'Coin Collectors Survival Manual' book? man, eBay will stop at nothing to let every moron around become a seller, and allow them to sell long after reputable sellers prove to eBay that the former are scam artists. sad really

None of this is any different than what goes on in any other hobby. And third world slabs have not slowed down my spending one bit. I haven't purchased anything from eBay not in a PCGS, NGC, or ANACS slab for quite some time. How in the world would he presence of an SGS slab affect my confidence to purchase an ANACS-slabbed coin? That is a bit far-fetched.
You will not be successful eliminating crappy slabs.
Who will determine the "list" of reputable TPG slabs? You and I know who they are; however, those companies that are left off the list may wish to make themselves heard in court. De javu all over again?

Successful or not, at least I can say I tried. And even if I fail, I'll rest easily knowing I gave it my best.

The ones that are left off the list will eventually go out of business when they can't sell anymore during the months or years of court battles anyway if they sue which would solve the problem anyway. Most of these crappy little "companies" are probably slackercorp 2 or 3 man businesses anyway and wouldn't have the $$ to fight eBay in the first place so the majority of them will just STFU and keep trying to tout their product even with the changes.

Similar to the power seller logo but I can't see it helping much since most folks don't take the time to read......like most posters to these forums! Even if ebay sends out some alerts on the subject, many of those bidders would still be confused. Giving it some thought, something in the nature of what Heritage does, similar to listing the pops of the TGS, they should show what those kitchen slabbers have sold for in past sales. If a bidder can see what PCGS and ANACS coins sell for verses the others, I think they will think twuce before bidding. If they still bid then they have been ibformed and they obviously don't care..........it's likely they just wants something cheap anyway.

That's the hole in human nature they are taking advantage of. The cheapa$$ gene. But these crappy slabs shouldn't be listed on the same level as legitimate slabbed coins. The real deal should sit on a pedestal far above the crap that is being hawked on eBay as legitimate graded and authenticated coins. Sure, let the buyers decide, but at least don't lump the crap in with the real deal like they are even remotely close to being the same.
