1950's card photo/portrait sharing

I was looking at Monte Irvin cards today, don't ask, I'm easily distracted. I noticed the 1954 Dan Dee pose looks identical to the 1954 Red Man (both are on ebay), but the portraits were painted/colored differently. Ever notice that before?
I wonder how many other brands might have employed this in the past, sharing possibly the photo of the subject or even having the same illustrator creating nearly identical portraits for cards?

Seeking primarily PSA graded pre-war "type" cards
My PSA Registry Sets
34 Goudey, 75 Topps Mini, Hall of Fame Complete Set, 1985 Topps Tiffany, Hall of Fame Players Complete Set
IMO, same portrait with different "lighting" - Topps did that a lot - very lazy if ya ask me.
