Opinions welcome on two "baby Busties", one of 'em crusty!

I have had these in my antique mall inventory for a year or two.

The 1830 is brighter but was probably cleaned at some point. I think it's market-acceptable, though, and no worse than much Bust coinage. In hand, it's nice and bright (edit- but not TOO bright like a polished coin. Dipped long ago, maybe, but not polished). I graded it VF20.

The 1832 is more "original" grey. I graded it VF25 initially but upon seeing the detail a little better with the scanner's help, I wonder if I was too strict on it- the reverse, and possibly the whole coin, look to be closer to EF40, or VF30-35 at the very least. There's a lot of feather detail on that eagle.

What's your opinion of these, gradewide and otherwise?

I pulled them out yesterday to scan, because somebody mentioned he was interested in Bust half dimes (and no, it wasn't Cladiator!) If he doesn't take one or both, I suppose they'll go to the BST forum or eBay, now that I have pictures of them. I still had four lower-grade Bust half dimes left in the case, so selling these won't hurt my antique mall inventory, since the lower-end stuff is what moves there.

This is not exactly a "for sale" spam thread, because they're only for sale to one person right now. But if he passes, then they'll be up for grabs later. I honestly wanna know what the forum thinks, since Bust half dimes and all Capped Bust coins seem so hot lately.

I think both are undergraded and look to be in the high XF, low AU range to me. I agree with your assessment on the 1830, too bright for me. I'd love the 1832 for my 7070image

the 1830 appears to be an example of the LM-13/V-2 die marriage (R-3) and the 1832 appears to be an example of the LM-7/V-9 die marriage (R-2). Although unable to evaluate for issues like cleaning, the 1830 seems a VF coin on the reverse and VF-30 to XF-40 on the obverse...details-wise. The 1832 fits in the VF-35 to XF-40 range.

Agreed with BD on the attributions and grades. The 1830 does have the look of having seen a cleaning at one time or another. The 1830 also looks as though it may have a rim dent along S4-S5, could just be the photos though.

Thanks, Barndog. I was hoping one of you specialists would chime in with attribution and grading.
