Birthday Wishlists! Thoughts?

Hey guys and gals.....with Matt celebrating his birthday today, I got to thinkin'. I would've definitely gotten an Emmitt card or two together and sent them his way in anticipation of the day.

Maybe we should get a birthday list together (don't need year, just month and day image ) and give them a box for their birthday. You know, a little present from their online forum family! Most folks have a player, year or team that they collect so that we can give each other a nice present.

Thoughts?

If we decide to go for it, my birthday is April 17th. image

Of course, we'd have to backdate an Emmitt or two to Matt! image

I've thought about this for quite a while, actually (and mentioned it in Stone's BDay thread). I think it'd be a great idea. A list of screennames, birth dates, addresses and areas they collect would be all we need, right? Are people comfortable putting their names and addresses out there? The list wouldn't be posted publicly, but would be sent to anyone that wanted to be a part of it.

I hadn't seen it mentioned before, but if someone wanted to be a part of the list they could "opt in" at some point and add their name to the list.

Would it be better to have all of the cards sent to one location (organizer) and then get that person to mail out the gifts?

This would cut down on a lot of folks having the info.

That's a *lot* of work for the organizer. I'd prefer a simpler system, but it would also rely on the honor system. You wouldn't need to send a gift to every member, but hopefully every member would get at least one thing. Maybe it's like Secret Santa, where you are assigned one name, but free to send to as many others as you'd like. That would probably work. The assigned gift would be for $25 or $50 or whatever we agree on, and the others are up to you.

    I'm in, if others are.

So, which system should we go with?

    1. One point of contact where he/she controls the information and distributes accordingly?
    2. Everyone gets on 'the list' and then we all give gifts at birthday time to those on the list?
    3. Everyone gets on 'the list', but we have it as a "Secret Santa" type of thing where you are assigned a birthday pal?

    Thoughts?

  • I honestly think that the Secret Santa would be the way to go. It could be too much for people to handle outside of that. I think that if everyone is assigned a person and then if they want to give to others, that's great.

  • ajwajw Posts: 2,281 ✭✭✭
I vote for a combination of 2 and 3. Each person is assigned one other person, to whom they must send a birthday present (with a minimum value that we agree on). But, we all get the list and are free to send birthday gifts to anyone else we want. (I personally think option 1 is crazy, as no one will want to package and send out birthday presents every week.)
  • alright that sounds like a good idea mine is december 6th

    Arny

It sounds like a great idea - but since people come and go here - it might be best if we just start a thread where people - who choose - enter their DOB - then someone collates the names.

When a B'day is coming up - if someone is feelin kind of sporty - they can PM the individual - get their addy and send them something.

I would just like to see if stay simple and real I ya know what I mean?
