2007 Topps Variations

In the course of opening packs of 2007 Topps baseball, I have noticed that some cards of the same player have different-colored text on the back of the card. For instance, I have two #27 Joey Gathright cards: one has his name, the card number, and the Topps logo on the back of the card in red, the other has that information in white (see picture below). Does anyone know if Topps intentionally made variations, or is this some sort of error?

  • Such variations are intentional. My Pops has worked in the printing industry for over 40 years, and stuff like this just doesn't pass through unnoticed. Especially in trading card printing plants(My Pops did repairs to the Fleer plant in Raleigh/Durham back in the late 1990s). The errors of yesteryear(for example the Mantle in white lettering) were no where scrutinized as they are today. Todays card printing plants are quite amazing technologically speaking as well as being the cleanest printing facilities my father saw in his career(which covered a few continents).
