What is your personal experience with crossovers to PSA?

I'm wondering how many have submitted cards for crossover in another company's holder and have gotten the same grade? worse? better?? This is not counting those busted out..only those submitted in slabs....

    Tried it once. Sports Collectors Digest Authentic 9 (slab was cracked, but card undamaged). Got a PSA 9, which I was expecting.

  • For me, no GAI crossovers have come to PSA's standards. BGS usually gets an equal crossover as does SGC. A few times they surprised me with taking a BCCG 10 mint and putting it is a PSA 10 holders, but then again I have had a tough time getting BCCG 10's into a PSA 9 holder for some issues such as 93 SP Jeter

    For the rest of the brands I do not even try.
  • Wow...sports collectors digest...mine are in SGC...which I believe would be about the easiest to crossover at least to the same grade. I just wonder what percentage actually do make it at least in the same grade, and then what percentage actually get a bump up, which i'm guessing is relatively low

    About 2 years ago I went 1 out of 6 in trying to cossover a few higher grade vintage cards with my free submissions. The one that crossed was an SGC T206 (a 7 I think)

    If it isn't too expensive a card...I would recommend cracking it first.

    My one SGC experience was a SGC 50 T206 Cobb that came back PSA 2.

  • SGC 50 to a 2? Ouch.

    I've crossed over about a half-dozen T205, T206 and T207's from SGC to PSA and all have crossed at the same grade. I tried to cross a GAI 2 T206 to PSA and they declined; I agreed with them though, the card was barely a 1. I also tried to cross two BGS 9 Dan Fouts rookie cards (1975 Topps) to PSA and both came back "evidence of trimming".

    Edited to add all the tobacco cards were below PSA 5/SGC60.

  • I have gotten a couple of bumps -->
    BGS 5 Clemente rookie to PSA-6 -- nice one!
    SGC-86 '67 Banks to PSA-8

    I have gotten a good number of straight cross-overs from SGC to PSA

    I have also gotten cards back in the SGC holder that did not cross...that I look at and scratch my head. I'm pretty darn sure that if cracked out the cards would have done well. I may do that at some point.

    If sending in GAI cards you have to crack the holders as they have it in for GAI. All dealers I know crack all cards out of holders and do not use the review service unless it's a lock. If it's questionable the best way to get a slider in I have heard is to submit some lower graded cards from the same year to make the slider look better.
